Since 1896, Clemson has had 21 head coaches, 19 of whom have winning or tie records versus the SCAR lamecocks. Since 1896, SCAR has had 31 head coaches, with a mere 8 having a winning record versus Clemson. An incomprehensible 23 of their head coaches have losing records versus Clemson.

However, even more telling, in the entire history of this ancient series, only a few select men can claim that they have won 3 or more games than they have lost.

For Clemson, Josh Cody (1927-1930) was 4-0 against SCAR, Jess Neely (1931-1939 was 6-3, Danny Ford (1979-1989) was 7-3-1, Tommy Bowden (1999-2008) was 7-2, and now, Dabo Swinney (2008-present) is 8-5.

For the pathetic SCAR lamecocks, none of their head coaches has ever won 3 more in the series than they lost.

Howard was breakeven or a slightly losing record as I recall but almost all of his games were played down there.
