Years ago, I believe around the LSU national title game, Josh Pate did a video about the fuel Dabo uses to motivate his team.

He referenced the under dog mentality that Dabo loves to use. The premise was that fuel is perfect for the climb but it’s not sustainable once you are at the top of the mountain. The fuel has to change because you aren’t an underdog any more so no one can buy into that message.

Dabo has the mantra “Best is the Standard” the problem is he has continued to use the ROY bus and the little ole Clemson fuel even at our highest point instead of leaning into Best is the Standard.

Compare Nick Sabans expectations at Alabama with Dabo’s at Clemson. Alabama could be up 45 points with 2 minutes left and the 3rd string defense gets the call wrong. Nick called a time out, threw his headset and lost it. Because the fuel was the standard. It was chasing ghosts. Not the next team above them.

Dabo is a great coach and a great person. His fuel and his stubbornness have caused this program to slide. Sure I remember the days before Dabo so don’t lecture me on that. The problem is WE were in the pole position we had CFB by the balls and we let it go!

I’m not at all advocating for Dabo to lose his job. I’m advocating for him to truly get behind and show that best is the standard.

When these things don’t happen Dabo needs to have the same energy he has for the refs with the players and coaches. Have the same energy he had with Steele and Napier.

110% has always been the standard. The ONLY person that should have touched that rock last night was Phil Mafah. That includes Dabo.
