in the right place at the right time - and lucky - as much as anything else.
Don’t get me wrong, you still gotta be at the front of the pack (usually), but sometimes fortune just smiles on you.

The Stenhouse / Logano crash had to be one of the dumbest moves ever in racing. Seems to me that neither driver was willing to give just a little to not crash with somewhere around 20 laps still remaining. The crash took out several good cars plus themselves. Frankly, seems to show stupidity on both of their parts.

Stenhouse blocks way late multiple times causing the incident

Logano was faster, everyone on the track knew that, everyone in the stands knew it, everyone watching at home knew it, heck even Stenhouse knew it....yet he made a choice in a moment that would prove to be the undoing of many of the best cars.
Logano was aggressive, but it is called RACING. The fastest car was making a move, as he should have, and when blocked Logano backed off, then the window opened up slightly and this time his car was already under Stenhouse who just ran up on his bumper. Bad driving from Stenhouse, and it was obvious to anybody watching. Slower cars need to move, the Ford was superior in the draft and in speed/power and usually are at the big tracks.

After Logano backed off that first time he had nowhere else to go. He tried to find a hole but it just wasn’t there and he was getting run over from behind. If he had lifted again the only difference is Stenhouse might not have been involved in the wreck but Logano was getting run over either way. Bound to happen at Daytona.

It is usually a battle of attrition at that track and who can survive the " big one ".
Talladega is very similar.
They should just remove the restriction plate and let them have at it.
Then you would have some exciting races , albeit a little more dangerous

I think it would safer without the plates, cars would not be

packaged into sardine cans...the big wreck is going to happen when you have 30+ cars all within a half second of each other going 190+ mph.
Let the strongest car win, this plate racing is just about luck, plain and simple. Miss the big wreck, and you might just get a win
