I’m guessing their record and ranking. Must not have much AD support to get a stadium upgrade.

Weird since OSU holds the record for receiving the single largest charitable donation in NCAA history, $165 million in 05-06 from T. Boone Pickens, depending on which article you read.
Seems like they’d have the best of the best across the board.
All told, T. Boone donated over $650 million to his Alma Mater in his lifetime, covering both academics and athletics.
I met him a couple of times. He was as down to earth as a man gets.

capacity to 3000. That would give us a stadium that would be an asset when it comes to potentially hosting regionals or super regionals. And, given the wild popularity of the softball program from the get go, it would be like the Athletic Department printing money.
(I heard tell there is a plan for expanding our seating capacity already on the books, but I doubt it was to triple it.)

Performance seeding. If someone owns a 1 seed in a region and they have a venue conflict then you may see the 2 get to host. That is very rare. Even more rare is when a team doesn’t meet min facility qualification to host. This would generally be a mid major program if it happens. Any P5 is going to fit the bill in this day and age with athletic budgets where they are.

As another poster said, hard to fathom why that is, since softball is WILDLY popular in that region. T. Boone certainly gave them enough money to have built a Taj Mahal of a softball stadium, or any other kind of stadium.
Butt, he never could seem to buy the Pokes a victory over the Schooners in football, with very rare exceptions.
