Coots have some competition in the coaching search...

Nov 30, 2020, 7:42 AM

Who gets the "better coach" now that Vandy has parted ways with Mason?

And I am pretty sure Michigan is going to be joining the party soon

I doubt Vandy is much competition unless you are comparing living in Nashville to Columbia. That's a no brain-er as to which is better. Now Auburn and Tennessee would be if they make a change.

Auburn, Texas, Michigan

they could be competing against many much better jobs. 7th choice may look good this time around.

I don’t care if Vandy hasn’t been very good at football. Has u of sc? Listening to coot radio down here in the low country you would think u of sc is a dream job for anyone and it isn’t. Wow congrats on a nice new building. You still play in a ?? city with a ?? school that’s in the ghetto. Don’t even get me started on the stadium. ??????? Only reason anyone will go there is for the money and then they’ll use it as a stepping stone.

There is no competition for Beamer if that is who they want

Nov 30, 2020, 8:39 AM

Can't think of a single Power 5 team that would pick Beamer over other options, except the chickens.

They're fending off a handful of G5 teams that have shown interest in him as an OC.

"fending off a handful of G5 teams"! Bahahahahaha!

To be honest and if they’re smart

Nov 30, 2020, 9:10 AM

(I’ve seen little evidence to support they are). This could open up some options for them. Herman is failing at Texas because Texas thinks they’re TEXAS! Herman could do wonders elevating UofSC to 8 win season again and that would work for 5 years or so before they start thinking they’re SOUTH CAROLINA again

NOBODY goes from Texas to uof6c...

Nov 30, 2020, 9:20 AM

That would be considered a major step backwards for Herman.

If I'm Tom Herman, I make Texas fire me and pay me the $15.5 million buyout.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

In fairness...

Nov 30, 2020, 9:17 AM

If teams like Michigan and Auburn are suddenly in the market for a new coach, schools like that attract a very different caliber of coach than uof6c can get.

uof6c is being turned down by Freeze at Liberty, Napier at ULaLa, Satterfield at Louisville and possibly even Clawson at Wake. Similar to their last coaching search, they are going to end-up settling on someone (likely Shane Beamer) out of sheer necessity.

While he wasn't their first, second, third or possibly even their fourth choice, they'll have you believe and go to their graves claiming that Beamer was the coach they really wanted all along.

I fully expect the Lamecocks to hire former Vandy coach Mason.
He probably just needs another chance.

Naw, Mason is no more a HC than Charlie Strong was to them

Nov 30, 2020, 10:42 PM

Texas was the wrong situation for Strong, even though it equated to a historical opportunity for any coach to take that job. Mason won't ever be considered for that job unless he remakes himself as a HC somewhere else first...
