Come On Over

247 Sports has of the 11 top teams on signing day 8 are SEC schools. We are rated at #10 in the country but that is seventh in the SEC. Come on over and take your licks with us. It's fun to follow but gets you beat to pieces.

Has Dabo eased up a bit on the portal? He may get like Saban and say this isn't worth it anymore and no one can blame them. It's all gone to heck. Nothing but money now. You better have a good payout from your conference and that, in itself, is not good enough. Better have big booster money to go with that. They're going to have to declare players as employees and have some kind of spending cap. The schools, and the NCAA, took advantage of the players forever. Now, it seems to be the other way around by tenfold. Before all of this came upon us I was talking to a Vol running back. He said if I bought him a t-shirt and it came out it would get him in trouble. Can you imagine that? Now look at things. Helter/skelter.

The proposed House settlement says otherwise.

It specifically says that the athletes won't be considered employees. That leaves the door open for them to be considered independent contractors.

Non employees can't collectively be hit with a salary cap.

Private NIL isn't a salary, doesn't come from the school, and can't be capped.

We're going to see billionaires pick a team and treat it as an obsessive hobby to build that team to the top with their money. It's gonna happen. Most of them have egos anyway. Take an ego and unlimited money and they will want to throw their weight around saying, "Hey, look what I did for this school!"

That’s essentially what is taking place when revenue sharing comes into effect in July. 20 million cap per school spread across all sports.

With this there is supposed to be more framework regarding NIL deals. I’m skeptical as we have seen how these settlements work out when a player feels he is entitled to more than is allowed.

It's literally anything goes currently with shelling out unlimited amounts of cash to acquire Collegiate, let me say that again, Collegiate football players. It's so bad that if a Saudi Prince has taken an interest in a particular College football program he could form a team that would be a national power in no time. Think about how messed up that is???
