I do not think there is any hope, everyone will be in 1 or 2 conference with TV $$$$ running the show…..

Indeed. Consider what will happen to fan bases at the institutions that don't make it into the two super conferences, especially after the super conferences leave the NCAA and remove all rules for payments, eligibility, and recruitment. With the "few" rich programs and the "many" have nots, collegiate sports will never be the same. Millions of loyal college fans may simply say "What's the point?" and stop going to games, stop giving money, and fall away from their "non super conference" team. But, sadly, the American public in general may actually welcome this newest form of professional sports.

Yeah it is really becoming all about the money. While many will continue to watch, some of the have nots will not, when there conference does not have any legitimate shot at at CFL.

College football is not going anywhere. Games will be played and people will watch. That is why tv money is ridiculous. Enjoy the ride and can only hope Clemson returns to the playoffs this year.

College football is not going anywhere. Games will be played and people will watch. That is why tv money is ridiculous. Enjoy the ride and can only hope Clemson returns to the playoffs this year.
It hasn't started yet - - - - kept resonating with me as I read and as I read some other comments on this subject.
"It hasn't started yet"!
People are tuning in now and clicking on stories "NOW"!
The hurt locker will come as people get alienated from the sport as their program(if it's not a big money school) isn't able to compete due to lack of funds!
Supporting the Tigers is easy! Just like fans and alumni of SC State Bulldogs support their team. But, those Bulldogs fans support their team knowing they will never be FBS National Champions. Possible they could be FCS champs; I guess! The best they can hope for is the HBCU National Championship - which SC State did win last year!
It doesn't diminish their support, but that's how it's always been at SC State. Other schools have played in big bowl games and fielded good teams from year to year and had "High Hopes" of perhaps playing for an NC. It would be completely different to "NOW" not even having the opportunity; much like a Group of 5 teams really not having a shot. The division between the haves and the have-nots will only grow.
This thing has completely gotten away from Academics!
Being a small - focused on academics school isn't the ticket now, you see. Having a very large alumni(money) base is going to dictate more about who gets a shot or not.
Crazy; but that's the "market"!
The issue is many people use to see "the market" as being a lot more level in terms of the playing field goes. It's about to be tilted to the point it can't be ignored. And, that's why "college football is toast" in terms of innocence and the way it was originally constructed.
