I can understand the coaches perspective for having a large buyout. It keeps coaches safe from the whims of the fans and/or frustrated BOT's. But at the same time aren't the programs protected in a way?
Realistically, of course. I wouldn't expect anyone to sign up for a NC within 4 years or you're fired. However, a certain amount of success should be expected after a certain amount of time. And if the program shows no or very little signs of improvement towards that goal, we don't owe you a dime in buyout. Coaches lean towards "we're getting better every year", ""We're real excited about this class of recruits", etc. There's only so much of that people can withstand. This shouldn't be that difficult to appreciate. If you're no longer putting a competitive team on the field, what are we paying you for? That is not the whim of a fan base or booster.
The things we see seem so crazy. $76 million to get rid of a coach that isn't producing?
