Clemson would bring instant credibility to the SEC

something that conference desperately needs since falling from the ranks of the “Elite”. My gut tells me the SEC will offer a revenue distribution model that would give Clemson a larger slice of the pie if we agree to join by 2026, similar to what the ACC has done, but I look for Clemson to tell them “no”, like we have done several times in the past. The pot will only get sweeter as the SEC continues to lose ground to the B1G, and Neff knows this.

This qualifies for worst post of the day. Why would a team like Clemson who is on the cusp of returning to eliteness, join a dying conference who hasn’t sniffed a CFB championship in years. I’m not sure they put more than 1 team in the playoffs next year.

I think next season probably have 2 ACC teams again. Wasn’t long ago one point loss to USC before ACC title game bumped Clemson out of playoff that put TCU.

You think this year we would have made the playoffs if we were in the SEC? Heck no! We better stay where we are and hope each year such as Syracuse this year can upset someone for us to get in.

The ACC going 2-12 in the bowl games have really made ACC teams a ESPN/SEC must have commoditity to add to their prime time game slots.

The ACC needs Clemson just as badly as the declining SEC needs us. We are the hottest commodity in college football right now, and it’s not even close.

With addition of SMU California and Stanford with ND in except football ACC on the raise all sports. SMU first season took Clemson to the wire title game. If ACC had leadership wanted to build to next level. They would use Cotton Bowl (not Cowboy Stadium) and Dallas to expand ACC. Cotton Bowl 2 to 4 ACC games a year. Early game before regular games ACC vs SEC. Ask SMU to move ACC game to Cotton Bowl when Clemson comes to town. ACC vs BIG16. That way the brand gets out farther.

Now if Ole Miss would add Clemson to their schedules it would shut their HC’s mouth. His SEC better than ACC even when they can’t beat SEC teams with losing records. The season is 12 games not just your best games.

I have a nice ocean front lot in Kansas if you believe any team would be offered a "bigger slice of the pie". Neither the SEC nor the Big10 need any more teams.

I totally agree. Lucky for the SEC, their leadership had the foresight to realize that with Saban gone, their flagship team Alabama would fade quickly. Georgia and Tennessee had begun to falter already before Saban left. The conference has sunk to such depths that hapless teams like Vanderbilt and that dumpster fire in Columbia, SC (but Columbia, Missouri would fit here just as well) are numbered among their better teams.
That foresight caused them to go out in desperation and get Texas and Oklahoma to bolster them. With a 12 team playoff now, their traditional teams are not likely to see the final four any time soon.
If Sankey is smart, he’ll pay the exit fee to get Clemson, FSU, and UNC into their conference right away. Otherwise, the SEC will continue to cycle out. Right now, the B1G is the class of college football. They have the money, the players, and the power to stay there for a long time.

I am sure that's something that the SEC has been thinking about too. It's the Elephant in the Room. I would assume that's why Clemson is playing such hardball. It's going to take a lot to pry Clemson from the ACC. The Art of the deal. Neff and Dabo are the masters at the art of the deal.

I haven't heard anything, and this purely conjecture, but I could see the SEC dropping a team to make room for Clemson. I could South Carolina getting dropped from the SEC due to their poor history. That's harsh, but is a business at the end of the day.

that leaves zero coaches in the SEC that have won a national title. I am not sure that is the company we want to keep, I think Neff has his eyes on the BIg Ten, it would be a much better fit for our program.

Would not like the Big 10 Baseball and Softball. Exposure on the 3 "free" over the air National networks (FOX,CBS and NBC) would be great for football and Basketball. I think this is where the SEC will prove to have messed up giving up CBS as a partner and going exclusive to paid provider only ESPN. The BIG already seems to be passing the SEC. That said when it comes down to creating 20-24 team Super conferences, I don't think the SEC will stand for the Big 10 in their footprint.

Neff’s idiot. If Clemson leaves ACC early paying any amount the founding fathers of Clemson will be turning over in their graves. I will be done with Clemson after 80 years. 60 years of my life my father died of Covid 19 at 80 being Tiger all of them. Used to respect Dabo but he showed Clemson’s word means nothing.
