Clemson baseball and what was

Makes you wonder what happened. I mean Jack was sent packing thinking his style was out of date. Now Monte has put in 6 years of mediocre or worse and this year was no improvement. COVID might have hurt with recruiting but everyone else had same disadvantage. The pride, the grit, the clutch plays, the college World Series, all gone for about 10+ years now.
Not that we won the championship but it was fun getting the chance pretty often to play in Omaha. This year it took beating a bad BC team just to make it into top 12 in ACC!! ACC baseball was Clemson for many many years, now it’s get it over with and let’s get to football season. It does seem the football success began about the time the baseball team started to fall off from its standard of ACC dominance.
What is it that changed other than head coach ?? And tonight, it isn’t looking good to put it nicely. Pitcher giving up 7 runs and still out there getting pounded as if the coaches just don’t care ?????

Jack seemed to never get it totally back after those coot losses in Omaha. Interesting though now the coots are even worse than us. Though I dont care what has happened to them

Yes that is a memory I prefer not to have in my brain. It was brutal, no doubt about that.
They have fallen way off as well, and like you, I don’t much care. I just hate to see the Tigers have little fight in them and always seem overmatched. It’s just hard to see, but I love Clemson and remain steadfast. But a change might be needed but who?? I don’t know who can turn this around but Monte seems to just be content watching a team continually get beat down. Maybe it’s not him, but somebody in that clubhouse and in the administration should know.

Things turned when Corbin and O'sullivan left

Jack had two of the best assistants ever, who have both won national championships. Corbin was here for 8 years (left back in '02) and Sully for like 8 (left in 07). After those guys moved on, Jack couldn't sustain the same success/recruiting and that's when things went south. Monte has been frustrating. We fired a HOF coach with the expectation we'd get back to Omaha on the back of great recruiting and it just hasn't happened. Seems like we get players, but can't seem to build great teams.

Excellent points that I had forgotten about. Those were big losses, assistant coaches are very important.
Might be bad mojo from sending Jack packing just to go after the flavor of the month. Monte success at small school did not translate to Clemson, at all. No CWS appearances since 2010 and that turned out nasty, very nasty.
