The article says the Coots return almost everyone. Thought they had 30+ seniors or portalers.

And yet they're outside the top 10.

If I had returned all my best players and still only got a top 12 early ranking, I'd be wondering if the SEC was the right fit for my program anymore.

https://www.lexingtonchronicle.com/stories/gamecock-football-set-to-see-key-departures-from-2024-team,114510
Key losses:
Defense: Kyle Kennard (had 11.5 sacks this year) TJ Sanders (Projected first round Defensive Tackle) Nick Emmanwori (Safety, possible late first rounder, lead the team in tackles, four interceptions) Debo Williams (starting LB) Demetrius Knight (starting LB) O'Donnell Fortune (starting Corner) Tonka Hemingway (starting Tackle) Alex Huntley (back-up to Hemingway) Bam Martin-Scott (Back-up LB...trying to get another year of eligibility...TBD)
17 players from Defense are set to leave.
Offense: Raheim Sanders (starting RB) Joshua Simon (starting TE...led the team in receptions and receiving yards) Robby Ashford (back-up QB) Kamaar Bell (starting LG) Vershon Lee (starting center) Torricelli Simpkins (starting RG)
They lose their starting Kicker and Punter.
All commentary on depth chart either came from the above article or "Our Lads":

Bottom line, they did a good job of keeping kids out of the transfer portal but to say they retained a vast majority of their roster is a bit of an oversell. About half of their rushing yards and 60% of their tackles and sacks are gone.

Losing 6 starters on offense and 7 on defense isn't great, but Sellers will probably mask some of that.

They scored 17 on us with weak play calling from the DC the last quarter and a half and an offense that played scared the whole second half. . With his lack of ability to stretch the field with his arm I feel like many teams will shut them down next year. I see a fall back to 6-6, 7-5 for them unless their portal players are off the charts.

They meant they returned almost everybody who wanted to return...they lost some to incarcerations and dropouts.

Texas another pre-season national championship.
I don't really have a problem with the rankings overall. Actaully Texas maybe better with Manning.
Should be a fun year!

Kiffin is going to blow a gasket only being ranked 20 and behind the coots.

Our program is the least impacted by NIL/Portal issues, that's gotta be worth 10 spots in the preseason poll alone.

"Sellers needs to learn to throw the football..."
That's not exactly a ringing endorsement of a QB1 for team projected at #12. Being a projected first team out of the CFP there though is tasty.

I like the Clemson Tigers number five, but I disagree with a lot of other placements on that list. No way putting Texas number one, Oregon should be higher, Notre Dame should be lower. South Carolina should not be in the top 15. Ga Tech too high for now. SMU lower.

How can they say that USuC returns most of their players ? They lost almost all of their defense.
