Brownell's recruiting philosophy needs to change

Why would a Clemson program, which isn't known as a basketball program, not use every scholarship available each year? Brownell used only 12 of 13 scholarships the past two seasons and redshirted a player. That's two scholarships on the bench. Just baffling!!
I also don't understand having only two centers and no true small forward on the team.

I'm only guessing but I think part of the problem is we aren't attracting a lot of recruits out of HS and then you go to the portal to find guys to fill the gaps. If he doesn't see some of the right talent in the portal at the time he is looking, rather than just fill it with a warm body, he may hold out in case other talent comes into the portal down the road that would be a better fit.

I see and thought about that as well but you run the risk of being short handed or using 6'7 Ian Schieffelin at center. The past two seasons Brownell knew Hall wasn't healthy during the preseason and still decided not to add frontcourt help. The team could have used another big man with post up ability to spell Hall. His team's are built to compete in the ACC but not survive a tournament (March Madness) format due to lack of size and depth. If your power forwards and centers are undersized, then they should be post warriors with post-up, shot blocking, and rebounding abilities. His 6'7, 6'8 guys aren't in the mold of Trevor Booker.

can't attract the same (or better) players than CofC, Furman, Morehead State, and Loyola-Chicago, we have some SERIOUS problems.

attract playing UNC, Duke, NCST, and UVA every year. Gamecocks don't seem to have a problem attracting talent to their far below average football school playing in the SEC each year. Brownell is starting to feel like a cancer.

Point made: Brownell doesn't know how to manage a roster any more than he can manage a bench.

Well because it is very nice to give training assistants a schollie for their hard work! I mean, CBB might as well give the Nauseef brothers a split schollie and let them play when our highly recruited Freshman Chauncey sits on the bench before he decides to transfer.
CBB hasn't filled all the schollies for several years now. That is absolutely insane. He has had 1-2 empty schollies many times often filled with walk-ons or asst's.
Just think????? What if he had filled that schollie with an underrated player like Jo Morant??? Just think if each year he grabbed another player that stuck and assisted. But leaving 1-2 schollies not filled when you get 14, that makes more sense than licking the posts on a battery at the the same time!!
Brad is good mentor, runs clean program. Brad sux as a P5 coach, sux as recruiter, cant manage players, cant win games he is supposed to, never smiles and has zero fan enthusiasm. There is nothing that Brac brings to Clemson at this point that deserves him being retained. Unfortunately good ppl dont make good coaches.
Neff- Tfe definition of Insanity is more defined than ever and this is worse than CTB at this point because we are living with it 40% longer. Albert Einstein is shaking his Insanity finger at Neff! Wish Neff would just man up and make a change!
