Bracketology - terminology "last 4 in and 1st 4 out"

Mar 11, 2021, 10:00 AM

Last 4 in = last 4 at large teams that make the tournament. They were the last ones selected.

First 4 out = first 4 teams NOT selected to the NCAA tournament. They were under consideration, but eventually lost out to the last 4 in. The first 4 out then become #1 seeds for the NIT.

What is the point. Is that for all the non basketball fans? Doesn't effect us.

has a hidden underlying meaning. You're correct it does not affect us. Many of us are casual basketball fans.

So, it's a NITpicking term?

Glad you pulled a Stridex pad and cleared that up.
