I understood that the bowl gives a couple of options on their preference, as do the schools, and then it’s a matching game. Why would a bowl want an ACC team ahead of the Tigers? No one has our brand, will draw the tv audience, or travel like Clemson will. I just can’t see a bowl favoring Wake or State ahead of us (assuming Pitt beats Wake). Thoughts?
You have to have sat in on some bowl selection committee meetings to have a full appreciate of the impact of outside forces (ESPN, Conferences, Hotels, etc.) to have a feel for how complex it is. Also, Clemson hasn't traveled as well recently from what I've heard, and there will likely be a concern that Clemson fans will be disappointed this year, and not travel. The hotel folks in Charlotte, Atlanta, and Jacksonville sometimes think that Clemson fans will just come for the day and not the $pend the night or night$ that fans from further away will spend.
