Go to the 11 minute mark of this video and listen,

"If I were in a college program it would be a pipeline program to the NFL.....It would be an NFL program at a college level...."

Bill would be an unknown without brady, and its not a small sample size either 82-98 was his nfl record without brady.

They benefitted from each other in different years. Belichek managed the ship early the first run of championships and Brady cleaned up for the last run of chips.

Brady had the last laugh winning in TB but make no mistake they probably don't have close to the success without each other.

Somewhat similar to what DS has tried to do at Colorado when you look at the staff he assembled.

He said he would prepare them for life after football whether after the NFL or after college.

If UNC LANDS an 8x SB champion coach, GOAT NFL that would be awesome. He would elevate that program to an elite status quickly. I could see the SEC/BIG racing to invite UNC to join their conf. before the ink is dry on Belichick/UNC contract. And Bubba knows this.

He could do wonders at Clemson. There would be no family and friends nepotism. A pipeline to the NFL is what he said he would set up as a CFB program. Music to a HS fb player's ears.

Not spend the time it takes to recruit or have success at the college level . This would be a terrible hire for UNC. It is 100x more work to be a college coach versus an NFL coach

Do you honestly believe that a person who has performed in the NFL at a higher level than any other coach is going to be a failure at anything he develops in any stage of football?

Seriously?

Belichek Was only successful because of Tom Brady. Without Brady, the Patriots sucked, and Brady went on to win a Super Bowl with Tampa.

do you honetly know how much more work the college job is with recruiting? how about keeping up the academics? He was a great NFL coach with Brady but he is not geared up for the college game.

Quite possibly. If he can recruit with the best of them he will do well. If not, than he probably won't do well.

I honestly think his age would really hurt recruiting, you always see it when a coach gets up there in years. Bill is a defensive genius but his offenses have been a disaster in the latter years of his career, and I don’t see him hitting the recruiting trail as hard as he would need to.

However It would bring hype to our conference and motivation for UNC to get out of our sh*tty TV deal; hopefully greasing the wheels on freeing UNC us and FSU from that idiot Jim Phillips reign of incompetence

Just getting rid of the nepotism at Clemson would do wonders for the program.😁

We have multiple coaches with little to no experience in high profile roles who have prior relationships with Dabo.

Unqualified hires with prior relationships = nepotism

Examples of a few unqualified coaches who shouldn’t be on staff
Wes
Grisham
Drew Swinney
Cole Stout (WR???)

Past examples
Austin
Streeter

I hope this is expanded enough for you

Great share, Bretfsu -you’re a quality member of tigernet.

I’m confident Belichick would be fun to have as a coach in the ACC. I’m sure on some level he wants to stick it to his ole Boy O’Brien at BC.

The main question I would have as a recruit is how long is he going to be there?

I am also confident he will not win a Natty due to a multitude of factors (mainly age and how long it would take to build a program).

Hiring a guy going on 73 is short sighted on several levels.

I hope UNC pulls the trigger again on hiring a septuagenarian.

I think Belichek is missing one important thing. NFLjr is the P2 conferences. Anyone coming to UNC won’t be playing against future NFL competition across the board. There won’t be enough NIL to attract 5 stars to Chapel Hill to play for a basketball school in a junior varsity football conference. Saban built the NFL pipeline program and walked away because of the unregulated free agency environment. No reason in the world to think Belichek has figured out something that will work better.

Bret,

I am not sure how one can model their program as "a pipeline to the NFL" when 95% of your athletes are not talented enough to make it at that level.

me. Belichick and Saban are very good friends and Saban essentially just got out of the college coaching game because he hated what it has become. I can't imagine Nick hasn't told Bill "don't do it" especially as he is in his 70's. Belichick - by all indications - has the public relations charisma and the recruiting desire of a dead fish. Being a head coach at a college program is a completely different animal than coaching in the NFL...

The only reason I can think he would do this is to set up his son with a guaranteed head coaching gig at UNC in about 2 years.
