Are our players too nice?

Probably going to get killed for this but, our are players too nice. Dabo recruits great guys to play at Clemson. We just don’t have a nastiness about us. That’s the problem with the team everyone is nice. No one is saying DJ isn’t a great person he just doesn’t have that killer competitiveness about him. His comments saying he happy for his brother (TP) getting on the field should never have been said. Saying that the DL that took his shovel pass to the house was a good play. Someone is trying to take your job and you say you’re happy for him is unacceptable. This team needs a leader that has grit not a person that is too nice.

Complacency is the killer of all dreams. You have to out work the people you work with to be "the difference". A real life lesson, you just can't show up and beat someone just by showing up. Where's the fire, the tenacity, the nasty-ness? I haven't seen it this year. Even the coaches to me seemed complacent before the year.
But I will always be ALL IN!

In 16 we had boulware who was nasty and also had deshaun who was a dawg. They were both alphas who were not going to lose. In 18 we had Trevor who is generational and nasty dline with the power rangers. This year there is no alpha dog even Shipley said it in his interview. There’s is no leader who is willing to tell it how it is. Everyone is buddy buddy and that doesn’t work. Alabama and Georgia has those guys we don’t. That is the difference. No one is held accountable. Coaches can’t do it players need to. It’s a team full of nice guys.

We definitely don't want A-holes all over this team.-(see Chad Kelly)
We do need people with intensity and desire. Etienne was somewhat quiet not all that vocal at all....but he knew exactly what to do on that field. That is just a big part of what is missing.
That vocal leader on offense is nowhere to be found on this year. I assumed it would be J Ross...but it hasn't been seen. Bockhorst was the closest to display any of that......but he can't do it without the support of the rest of the offense.
We are just too young...too inexperienced...too lost...too fragile...and too complacent on the offense to act and play like men amongst boys.

I agree you don’t want a holes. You want an alpha leader, who is usually your QB. We all know DJ is not an alpha Shipley stated this in a post game interview. There’s no one who is holding the team accountable.

I would say that is the coaches job to hold the team accountable. Also, Trevor not DW4 were like that, Trevor has said as much, he would be fine without football, Tom Brady lives for it. DW4 is currently sitting out as a healthy scratch because he simply doesn’t want to play.
Tom Brady is the exception not the rule, that’s why he is the GOAT of all sports, Jordan as well. I don’t see those types of players at Bama or UGA, they are simply more talented and better coached. And to be clear I see your point, it’s just not a realistic point and not very accurate for most teams and players in general, you seem to be overthinking this thing… we need better coaching and better talent at key spots.

That’s not what I am saying. When you’re on the field you need to be competitive and do anything to win. Do you think Tom Brady tells someone nice play on the field? No he turns into psycho Tom. What about Michael jordan. Was he telling bird and magic nice play in a game or when someone replaced him? No they did what it took to win no matter what. You can be polite and a good person off the field but a dawg on the field within the rules of play

champions who were nice guys. They just don’t fit the stereotype of the uber competitive superstar.
Trevor was a nice and mild mannered as they come - but also a strong competitor who was a champion. Same goes for Etienne, Artavis Scott, Tee Higgins, Mike Williams, Deshaun Watson, etc.

What this team needs to do is mature and get confident and realize they CAN go win. Has nothing to do with not being competitive or stealing others towels....
