We certainly have a lot of folks right here on this board that would make great candidates should our AD job ever open up. They know what's best for all programs no doubt. They would fire a guy that went to the Elite 8 last year with a 24-12 record and was 27-7 this year. Folks to do that we would be the laughing stock of college basketball. Granted we are all frustrated of the final game but get a prospective here! The fact remains that Brownell has EXCEEDED throughout his 15 years what has been the story of Clemson basketball and done it with CLASS (which obviously means nothing to people here)! Since 2018 we have had 3 NCAA appearances that includes a Sweet 16 and an Elite 8. Sure there have been some head shaking losses but that's BASKETBALL. It's not like football people !! If Virginia had fired Bennett after losing to a 16 seed they never would have won a championship the next year. I suppose he went to coaching seminars and took classes and got smarter between those years ?? It's great to care but if you can't get on board with our staff then go pull for another school and GOOD RIDDANCE !! Maybe NC State who obviously forgot how to coach since last years FINAL FOUR !Good Luck Will Wade just don't have one bad year buddy !

We are the laughingstock of college basketball right now.
All that aside Brad is a good guy. He’s done enough to keep his job. Too bad the wins over KY, UNC and Duke will be forever marred in the eyes of our fans and completely forgotten by the rest of the country because of the way we finished.
People have a right to be frustrated and want better. People like you need to stop settling for less.

That's a media narrative you've swallowed. Closest score of the first 40 games, losing by 2. All the focus on 13 points in first half should include they only had 31. About what we normally allow. We just didn't hit shots or rebound. No team has scored 54 in 2nd half except us. Duke had 54 in first half. All games have two halves. The laughing stock is teams that didn't even make the NIT.

We were the laughing stock for having top tier expectations with bottom tier investment. You ever wondered how the SEC suddenly became a basketball power conference?

Yes, I have a clue. They started hiring better coaches.
This “better resources” narrative is a joke when we get beat by McNeese St and NIT teams that can’t even pay half the assistants we have.
So what’s your connection to the basketball team?

What kind of investment does McNeese State make? How about Morehead State? Quit using money as your only excuse. It is a factor, but not the only one. The coach plays a big part. When the final rankings match the investment by each school, then you’ve got a legitimate argument.

And yet, there is not a bigger supporter of CBB than Francis Marion. Thankfully he is on record about his enthusiasm, typically after a win. Thanks buddy, you are a Tigernet treasure.

Brad is a good coach. His defense is sound and his offense plays like a team. He most likely thought this team would not need a lot of motivation to play in the NCAA Tournament. I wouldn’t think they would need external motivation to get ready to play. Apparently the did not have enough self motivation.

Brownell for his 15 long years has done no better than Bill Foster, Cliff Ellis and Rick Barnes. He hasn't exceeded any other era of Clemson basketball. Him blowing games we should win reminds me of the Shyatt Happens era.
Bill Foster (Miami) Cliff Ellis (Auburn) Rick Barnes (Texas) and Oliver Purnell (Depaul) were hired away from Clemson because they were great coaches.

I agree with u on Foster and Barnes. Purnell just ran a gimmick press but when he had to play a half court game he lost. Ellis is/was just a drama king that recruited athletic players and threw out a basketball. He had no discipline and no coaching ability.

I don’t know Brad but, he appears to be a nice guy. Brad has always run a clean program. I felt very sorry for him when Zion was bought out from under him. If Zion were a recruit now, I believe that Clemson would have the NIL package in place and Zion would have be a Tiger. What a season that would be.
Brad has had some success including this season. Brad has also had teams that get embarrassed when Clemson finally gets national eyes on the program. The NIT loss at LJ, the Louisville loss this season in the ACC tournament, and the final loss to McNeese all featured Tiger teams that came out flat. That is on Brad. I have learned from football that coaching changes do help. If Brad is going to be the head coach, he needs to change some assistants.
BTW, did anyone hear the announcers call out Clemson for blowing ten seconds at the end of the game when those seconds were desperately needed? That is on Brad. He makes bad calls when the game is on the line. I really want him to be successful but, he needs to take some ownership in his coaching mistakes.

CBB gets way too much credit for Chase walking the ball up the court and dribbling at the top of the key like we're trying to run out the clock.

Brad is by all accounts a good man. He was good to me and my son at his camps and he was accommodating to my special needs daughter when she gave him a hug and started talking about Star Wars. He supposedly knows Xs and Os. But something is missing. Championship coaches have normally played or coached as assistants on championship teams or programs and they just have absorbed what it takes and they have the attitude of a champion. I do not think that is the case with Brownell. He seems a bit uptight. The Clemson Grit idea has merit but I do not see the fun, a la Dabo. Now maybe Dabo's way does not work in every sport. I will grant that. But it just seems the program is missing the joy and the confidence. Not cockiness, not unfounded confidence, but just the confidence that we are going to find a way and it's going to be fun doing that. I don't know much about any of the assistants but if Brad is the defensive genius he needs an offensive expert to spark things and prevent those 6-minute scoring droughts which seem to doom us in most games we lose. I always hear that we could not find anyone better than Brad but I just do not know if that is true. We have been respectable the last 15 years. My concern and my prediction is the next 5 will not be any better than the last 5 and we will win maybe 2-3 NCAA tournament games and zero ACC regular season or tournament championships. I understand history does not always repeat itself but as they say, it very often rhymes. For someone who loves the school and its academics and its sports programs, it really hurts that in my 72 years we have only 2 times played for the ACC championship and have not even sniffed the NCAA. I am not a quitter and I do not think Brad is either. I am just a realist who is optimistic but agree that all the anger and aggravation right now is way too typical and is also very much justified by the fan base. Maybe next year, but I doubt it.

Funny you bring up Bennett. Do you realize we’re on pace to pay Brownell nearly twice as much as Bennett was ever paid? So why are we shoveling truckloads of cash at a coach with significantly lesser accomplishments over a longer period?
