do you know if Jackie was able to get the fishhook out that was caught in her mouth or throat. I was thinking that maybe the folks that takes care of the cameras maybe they had to do something to help her and remove the hook...

That's awful. I guess she got it from one of the fish she or Shadow caught. I have not watched in a couple of days.

I'm pretty sure she got from the live fish that she just brought to the nest. The fish was flapping around, and she started killing it by ripping its gills and mouth apart and that's when I noticed she had something in her mouth that she was trying to shake out, and that's when I noticed the fishing line hanging out of her mouth, and she began tripping out in an attempt to get the hook out. Shadow came to see I guess what the disturbance was about, and she took flight and Shadow stayed with the chicks.
I can't tell the difference of Jackie and Shadow, but one of them is in the nest feeding the chicks from that same fish that Jackie got the hook from. I don't know if she got the hook out or not, but I hope that she did.

Well, one chick is about twice the size of the other, so maybe that's where it went.

I'm pretty sure that chick froze to death after that big snow they had last week, or that's what those folks filming believes happen to it.

She died overnight.

She was eating well. No one knows for sure what the cause was. Lots of speculation, but the moderators of the board say that all they have is speculation.
There is a (sad, and maybe even gross) video of one of the parents removing the eaglet from the next the day after death.

Nothing goes to waist by the animals in the wild, and I think that us humans could learn a thing or two from what most humans call dumb animals, I mean are they really dumb? I believe the dumbest thing they will sometimes do is trust humans!!!

I went back and scanned the entire day seeing both eagles and neither one seems to have a fish hook anywhere. Hopefully it is gone.

I was watching at 9am this morning, the only thing that was visible was the fishing line hanging from her mouth. Whoever is filming the nest and eagles was the one that said it was a fishhook trapped in her mouth when she was trying to shake it out this morning...

Thanks a lot, baker5801!!! I was concerned about her having the hook caught in her mouth, and if you've ever been stuck by a hook, you will understand how hard it is to remove them bc of the barb. If you've ever gotten stuck with one, I've found the best way to remove them is to turn it back through until the point comes back out, and then pull it out, ouch that hurts!!!!

Man. I’ve had a couple treble hooks lodged in my hands before. I always push the Barb through and cut the bar off with my multi tool to back it out. Clean with alcohol and peroxide. Then replace the treble hook and keep fishin’!
Glad she got it out. We used to help manage a local mountain pond with trout. There were a few with hooks lodged but they eventually eroded due to trouts acidic mouths. You could always tell the ones with hooks because they swam a little slower than normal and ate trout chow more slowly. I miss those SC mountain ponds.
I always feel like “dumb animals” are teaching humans. I learned more about how to love from dogs that adopted me through the years. Especially my last two that shared 18 years with us.

Yes, she was. They have a video...

... that I'm sure you can find by searching for it on youtube.
The video is about 13 minutes long, but it took her much longer than that in real time to dislodge it.
