Angel strikes again

It must be umpires who's first name is Angel who always seem to stick it to my teams. Angel Campos's incompetency has been well documented. However, he may not be the worst umpire named Angel.

Angel Hernandez single handedly gave the Marlins the league championship over the Braves in 1998 with his ridiculous strike zone that since become comedy fodder. He also had his calls overturned 3 times in the 2018 world series. Yet, the clown continued to umpire...

You are misremembering that game. It was fat Eric Gregg who gave the Marlins a foot on either side of the plate while simultaneously squeezing the Braves pitchers.

Calhoun, you are right!! I went back and looked and it was 1997. The Marlin pitcher who was the beneficiary was Livan Hernandez. Got my Hernandez's mixed up! My wife is right, my memory is not is good as it used to be...

Yes, it was Gregg. I used to kind of enjoy him but he put it to the Braves that game. He wound up getting canned himself trying to stir umps to walk out that wasn’t sanctioned by their union I believe. Definitely canned. Long overdue though.

Hernandez was fired the same year as Campos. They may have even been on the same MLB Crew.
