What many of you seem to forget is that these kids didn't just commit to a football program, like many of our "fans" apparently have, but they committed to a university. They committed to 3-5 years of academics as well as football. There are lots of great football programs out there they could've committed to, but they chose Clemson. Anyone who knows and loves Clemson knows that it's more than any one team - it's a family, as cliche and cheesy as that may sound. Yes, some may transfer, but not just because we're having a bad year. All of these kids have had bad games and bad seasons. They will have more bad games (hopefully no more L's!). But they are committed to Clemson University. They may move on after they get their degree, like many have, but they aren't just like many football fans who jump onboard with whomever is hot and popular. They're committed to a university, to a program, to a mindset, to a family, and then to a football team. I don't see any of them just jumping ship because things are rough after 4 games.

Those are kids who walked away from a scholarship on the chance they could transfer and play elsewhere.

That's a telling stat that is not good for either the schools or the players.

The transfer portal and NIL will ultimately lead to the ruination of college football.

Bama, Ohio State, and Georgia are all doing fine with the portal and that’s because they are using it!

How does Coach DS know it will taint his culture if he’s never tried it?

So, you are suggesting that Dabo take in the players who Bama, OSU and OU has discarded for whatever reason to play for us over the kids we recruited. If the kids in the portal was good enough to start for the school they signed with they would not be in the portal.

Well Bama's leading receiver right now is from Ohio State. Sometimes players just aren't a good fit someplace. There are without a doubt Offensive Lineman in the portal Better than some we have starting right now

He decided to transfer when he was told Dwayne Haskins was going to be the starter. Joe Burrow is a perfect example of why the transfer portal can work in another teams favor.

he was concerned that using the transfer portal would somehow taint Clemson's culture.

I think it largely goes back to taking transfers; something Dabo has traditionally not done. He prefers to recruit and develop talent from within.
