Yes?

He pitched 6 total innings all year last year

Just a thing where I personally feel he is still developing, and he should do his developing as a reliever.


It makes perfect sense to go with maybe BJ Bailey and get 3 or 4 good innings. Then on to the bullpen like what would’ve happened with LeGuernic anyways

I’m sure any replacement for LeGeurnic wouldn’t be 100% flawless all the time, but they’ve all done better in “short appearances”


I am just confused on why Bakich hasn’t made this decision yet.

My best guess is managing the arms. We had/have alot of pitching injuries coupled with alot of inexperienced pitchers. Sunday and midweek have been by platoon. I also think the heavy frontloading of midweek games has put a strain on the pitching. The second half of season only has 4 midweek games, hopefully with a healthy roster.

I feel his issue is command and it’s something coach EB thinks can be corrected. His first 2 batters today he throw 16 pitches. 1 walk and 1 single. But both got to full counts. He needs to throw less balls. That will come with command. He has good stuff. He has good velocity and a good spin rate. Just have to throw strikes and learn when he gets ahead with a 1-2 count he doesn’t need a ball right over the middle. He has 1 waste pitch. I think his issue with command hurts there also. But at this point might as keep going with him long as we are winning. He may turn the corner and if he does makes us dangerous in the post season.

Bakich indicated Sunday that that experiment looks to be done for the time being. He said they were front-loading the key bullpen arms toward the first two games on the weekend previously, but they might switch up some strategies now. He said the obvious that sub-one-inning starts on Sundays aren't working.

He added that the pitching depth is going to improve coming up with Talan Bell set to see some action this week and Michael Gillen on line to start pitching the next week, both coming back from injury.

Anything about Darden? He’s been struggling and looking the same way he finished last season.

And yeah I’ve been wondering about Bell. Obviously rated 15th overall freshman in the country by BaseballAmerica




And I think it has to be at the point where Knaak should be given ultimate control on the Friday game. If he gives up some runs and gets in pickles, so be it.


Although that strategy should be used because of how good Knaak is. Rely on him to save your bullpen arms.
