ACC Grant of Rights explain…

I keep seeing people say it would be $50mil thereabouts to leave. Is it that simple? If that’s it, then if asked, why would Clemson/FSU not go to SEC.

The annual payout at SEC will be $90-$100. We strike a check for $50mil and still make more in 1 year that the garbage ACC payout of $35mil.

Am I missing something with the GOR?

I bet we could sue or defend for leaving due to the ACC's failure to maintain a viable conference.

Mismanagement in the form of bad TV contacts and failure to add quality schools has adversely impacted the conference's value.

It will be interesting to see it play out. I hope we can stuck together with FSU and Miami, as well as with GT and UNC or State.

The exit fee and continuing media rights are separate. Pay the exit fee and your out. However, in theory you lose the remaining media revenue out to 2036.

But as soon as the ACC adds another team, and they will have to,

Does that not void the GOR?

The numbers I have seen thrown around to leave now are in excess of $100 million for standard ACC teams. but here is the kicker. ND is not in the ACC for football, but are for all other sports, and let's face it, they will be and are target #1 for the B1G now.

They can afford to leave based on just their olympic sports and the penalty they would incur for pulling them out of the ACC, but their leaving would also void their 5 game a year deal in football, opening up the TV contract and more importantly, the GOR for renegotiation.

I honestly believe that will be your path out and whoever else can latch on. And I think it will come soon.

Yeah, honestly the math doesn't add up.

We'd make up the exit fee in 3-4 years.

I think at this point we're staying out of loyalty. I'd expect that to change if even one other school defects though.

We’re not gonna pay the ACC 50M to leave.

If the ACC collapses and there's entity to collect the 50M, then maybe we avoid paying it.

The Big Ten or the SEC should absorb the remainder of the pac12 and all of the ACC, then tell the other guy to F off.
