A Hypothetical on hypotheticals, hypothetically speaking

Not picking on Bulldog, but these single factor hypotheticals don't work.
If you ask what Clemson would do with an SEC schedule, I would say the same as now because
1) We would have to be in the SEC to play that schedule 2) We would be getting SEC money, rather than ACC money 3) We would have the added recruiting advantage (perceived) of being in the SEC 4) I don't think our current staff would do so, but we could recruit farther into the gray without the consequences of mortal conferences 5) We would get the benefit of the "eye test" and wouldn't have to go undefeated or match the least number of losses of other teams. 6) The opponents we play would be artificially ranked too high in the preseason, thereby contributing to the tougher schedule (if you want proof of this, go look at how, as an example, UGA and Clemson compare pre-season rankings to final ranking over the last 10 years) 7) I'll take our coaching staff as a whole over everyone in the SEC (Yes, including Alabama) for prep, management and in game adjustments. 8) Finally, as of now, Clemson's legitimate competition is Alabama with UGA, LSU and maybe one other from year to year. Since Dabo, we've more than held our own against these teams. The rest of the conference, most of whom we've played, does not concern me more than any other game mainly because with one or two exceptions, we have not laid many eggs or played down to our opponents.
Is the SEC, on average, the best conference year to year? Yes.
Could most teams outside the top fifteen compete with the top 4 or 5 SEC teams? No.
But we can and will continue to do so, at least as long as Dabo is coach or we are able to maintain the same culture.
Looking forward to Game One.
Go Tigers

Also, if Clemson was in the SEC, Bama would have to work much harder to pick up the 5 star talent that get only because of their history, most recruits believe that SEC myth, that the SEC is the best from top to bottom, and with Bama being the best of the SEC, they get their pick of the 5 stars.
If todays Clemson was in the SEC, it would be Clemson, and Bama fighting it out for the SEC title with the winner being a toss up bc, Clemson would get their share of the 5 star talent just like Bama bc, I believe players would rather play for Dabo Swinney if Clemson was a SEC team, period!!!!

Fortunately, Clemson doesn’t have to play What IF game. They are for real and the college football fans all know that. They may not readily accept it but it’s a fact. Go Tigers
