Zamir white- what if?

The fact that we haven't pursued another running back and seem to have lost ground on him, doesn't add up. What if he is taking all these trips to ga just to make sure? Zamir is a beast, but there are some other really good backs in the class, yet we are not pursuing them. You have to wonder why, it's never been dabos style to put all his eggs in one basket.
What say yall?
Side note I still think Henry has been a silent for quite some time but could be wrong.

It's a nice theory, but I don't think it holds up.

It doesn't make sense. White is putting on one heck of an acting job if he's coming to Clemson. I think we have put our eggs in one basket.

I'm with you it doesn't make sense. All I know is I trust in Dabo and his staff and they are privy to knowledge we as fans are not to. Dabo has been known to pull some surprise commits I hope this or one close to this is the one in this cycle.

This is going to be the greatest recruiting class in Clemson history.

Zamir is a "momma's boy" and I don't mean that in a mean way. He's not going far from her so behind the scenes I think it's btw Uga and Us. I'd be shocked if he went to OSU simiply because of the drive.
The fact that the coaches haven't offered another RB tells me 2 things. 1.) Zamir is telling them they are still in it. 2.) They are showing him they aren't waivering from their promise to him of being the only RB to be offered. Personally, I still think UGA leads but I do believe Clemson has slowly made of ground behind the scenes.
Zamir has had a tight lipped recruitment, so we only read opinion based articles. Recent trips back to back trips to Athens was concerning, but mods on 247 uga site have mentioned they still think uga leads but not by a long shot like once before. Who knows though, but fact remains we need him on campus once more.
PS: If you start seeing "real" offers go out to RBs then it would be safe to say the coaches see the writing on the wall or white told him he's not CU bound. Until then IMO we are atleast in it deep.

After listening yesterday to the podcast with ZW's Mom it sounds like she hated the drive to Ohio, said she thought they would Never get off the long winding roads thru Kentucky and WV. She also sounded blah on Saban. I think we're behind UGA but still in it. She said she thinks he might not be able to decide by the late June date he originally set.

My question would be,
May 27, 2017, 1:27 PM
|
|
Is it necessary to get a back this cycle? Why can't we afford to put our "eggs in one basket?"
We have Fuller (RS junior), Choice (RS junior), Feaster (sophomore), Travis Etienne (freshman), and apparently some kid Dabo's high on Darien Rencher. Now before you give me grief on Rencher, Dabo himself talked the kid up (think Renfrow) so don't shoot the messenger. If you got beef with that statement, take it up with your NC winning HC.
I realize both Fuller and Choice COULD leave after this season but I doubt both do. Plus, I think Ray Ray can help fill any gaps in our running game. Also, Devon Lawrence, whether we consider him a back up offer to White or not, is as good as ours if we wanted him. He looks pretty stout to me.
I just don't think there's a cause to panic. You guys can harp about depth but I GUARANTEE you that if White came here, someone would wind up transferring (Feaster, Choice)...

We stopped recruiting Devon Lawrence quite some time ago.

I don't think that means much. We could easily get back in the game with him. There's plenty of time between now and NSD. Besides, how do you sell to White that all our chips are on the table for him if we're actively recruiting a bunch of other backs?

I wouldn't worry much about a RB right now..spring evals, summer camps, and fall high school season will cause some RB to shot up rankings that are currently unknown.

Please dont say Ray and RB in the same breath. He struggles to hold on to the ball as a WR and PR. Can you imagine getting hit by 300lb DLs?

"Fill gaps in our running game." No where did I say he was a four down, between the tackles back.

McCloud will have a good shot at taking over Artavis Scott's spot getting jet sweeps & short screen passes - if he can hold on to the ball

Filling the gaps is bad enough unless he shows he can protect the football which he hasn't.

Not panicking, just observing. I agree with you that we would easily survive without one this cycle. Just a strange situation.

I've been following Darien Rencher on social media for the last year as I noticed all our Players follow and interact with him. He seems to be very popular with 1st & 2nd string though he is just a walk on they seem to admire him. Apparently an inspirational and uplifting young man. I know nothing about his skills.

Member when XT was only toying with us , and the Coots were propping his family business up and were going to take care of his family ...who were all USuC fans for life ? Member when he visited them a week or so before committing to Clemson whom he hadn't visited in many months ?
Yeah , I could see the scenario .

Is the all in cookout before June 27,2017? That's Whites tentative announcement date. If we are going to get him back on campus, it better be soon.

You're right , but a cycle later we got an afterthought RB from Loganville Ga that turned out to be a beast and ended up with a national championship ring . Big bad Gurley went 1-1 vs Clemson and never even challenged for a conference championship .

Gallman was a good one. It does look like we are going for White and nobody else. The need is for a power back with speed. The two that fit that mold are not being recruited by us. If White is a silent commit, he's putting on a great act. Xavier Thomas always had us in his top 2.
