that goes back at least to the first CFP appearance against Bama. Pretty much cost us the game.

We throw it to the TE when we have a TE that can catch the ball. D.Allen / J.Leggett being the most recent.
As far as covering the TE ... I'll think up a snappy response to your criticism and get back to you in three months.

It's obvious. Tony Elliot is not an elite offensive coordinator and can't figure out how to get them involved.

Our TEs don’t deserve to be given a bigger role.

They are not performing in the passing game.
Right now, Davis Allen is the only reasonably proficient TE we have. He does his job both blocking and receiving.
Bradon Galloway and Jaylyn Laye have each had plays drawn up and their number called only to drop the ball and kill the drive.
When Tony Elliott sends in a play, and the play works, and then the wide open pass is dropped, then his confidence in calling another play designed for the TE is negatively affected.
Our TEs (and our WRs) have killed our offensive efficiency so far this year.
DJ has had accuracy issues for sure, but that’s when our receivers need to step up and make catches on his throws when he gets it to them. So far they have failed.
Coaches don’t make plays ... players make plays.

Remember ole Ralph Friedgen? He has this formula for losing ball games and one of the key elements in it was dropped passes. I've always remembered that.
Sad to see us drop all these passes this year, hasn't been a problem for so many years now.

us out on numerous occasions.
I think back to the Syracuse game when Case Brice had to step in for TL and where if Hunter Renfrow doesn’t make a fantastic impossible snag of one of Brice’s first throws moving the chains, the later heroics never happen.
After all the great Mike Williams leaping catches against Alabama, if Jordan Leggett doesn’t make that freaky catch at the 12 yard line, the final game winner to Renfrow is moot.
We can go all the way back to 1977 where Jerry Butler wins the SCAR game by skying for what appeared for all the world to be Fuller throwing it out of the EZ.
I want to see DJU become a lot more accurate, but right now, he’s getting very little help when he does throw a nice ball.

and I don't disagree with anything you say.
So an honest question, is it my untrained eye, or does the play-calling not seem stale to you? It would be different if we ran the same 10 plays to perfection and never get stopped using them but that's not what's happening, obviously.
True, there are horrible drops stalling drives but seems like our WRs are covered like glue 100% of the time while by striking contrast, opposing offenses find wide-open WRs all the time against us.
Also, we run that WR screen ALL THE TIME, and never seems to work.
I don't know, I am no coach. Maybe I am missing something, don't know.

I may be paraphrasing here, but basically he said, “We only run three plays, but we run them to perfection.”
That may be a bit apocryphal, and an over-simplification in any case, but the point is valid.
Run the plays your guys can run to perfection.

we see him furious with Kobe Pace one minute for costing us five yards, then a few plays later Kobe finds the hole and goes the distance untouched.
Later, DJ hits Kobe with a perfectly executed screen that goes for 35 yards.
So, what’s a coach to do?
He could have benched Kobe, but look what he’d have missed by doing it.
I’m no coach either, just try to be observant and see what the real coaches may be seeing as they earn their huge salaries.
I’m frustrated! You could ask my wife who watches and listens to me during the games.
But, what vet been around Clemson football so dang long, I’ve become able to understand that things don’t always go according to plan, 5-star guys don’t always work out, and coaches know their jobs and family livelihood are on the line so they are going to do their very best to get things straightened out.
If they can’t, they will be looking for their next job and Dabo will bring in someone who can.
The off season is going to be interesting from a staffing standpoint.
There will probably be major adjustments in staffing and some shifts in philosophy as the college football landscape changes.
