Bonus: he just called Republicans domestic enemies

Where did Biden say that? I'd like to see it so I can get behind you on the Biden-bashing.

People who want to stop democrats from changing things

Jan 11, 2022, 5:13 PM

in a blatant power grab shamefully disguised as something to protect the rights of minorities (what Dems have been doing for 70 years) are domestic enemies.

We are almost, almost to the point where they've diluted

Jan 11, 2022, 5:22 PM

the various accusations to the point of meaninglessness. I'd submit that actually BEING a racist is a far bigger offense socially today than 15 years ago, but being CALLED a racist is far more of a shoulder shrug now than it was 15 years ago.

They just miss the "boy who cried wolf" lesson over and over again.

The same thing will happen with white supremacist, domestic enemy, far right, etc......all these names they throw out so cavalierly will get overused to the point that they're actually weakened.

It's counterproductive to the cause of actually identifying people who truly meet the descriptions, but whatever.

True and I wish both sides would understand that point

It's easier to just call the other side a racist or socialist than it is to have a well-informed dialogue or argument. When everything is racist or socialist then those terms tend to lose effectiveness.

Jan 11, 2022, 5:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Biden on the trail in ATL dividing YET AGAIN ]

So it's not that all Republicans are domestic enemies. It's that he considers opponents of voting rights to be domestic enemies. And he didn't even say that. But he implied it strongly enough.

I don't agree that anyone who rejects the voting rights bill to be anti-democracy. At best it's maybe most of them.

So I join you in rejecting Biden's implication to the contrary.

bills being pushed by the Democrats.

A good chunk of it is federal over-reach and, in large part, an over-reaction to bills at the state level which have largely been mischaracterized...Georgia being a great example.

The Democrats see it as a way to fire up their minority base and the thought that they would consider eliminating the Filibuster to do it, might not be anti-democratic, but it's surely anti-institutional.

Agreed, and the issue is a football for both sides. Republicans scream voter fraud, Democrats scream voter suppression.

To some extent, I agree....however, the Ga voting law...

Jan 12, 2022, 9:02 AM

largely expanded access, specifically expanding early voting and codifying no-excuse absentee ballots. I didn't see that as a knee-jerk reaction to voter fraud claims. I think almost everything in the Ga bill made sense and was also sensible reaction to reassure those that felt the last election had major problems (admittedly largely unfounded).

My recollection of the Ga laws lines up with what you're saying, and I think it's a good idea to do something to help reassure people.

Re: Biden on the trail in ATL dividing YET AGAIN

Jan 12, 2022, 8:12 AM [ in reply to Re: Biden on the trail in ATL dividing YET AGAIN ]

80-85% of Americans support Voter ID to vote. The vast majority support cleansing the voter rolls of the dead. The same goes for not supporting allowing votes to trickle in for up to 2 weeks after the election. Most Americans must therefore be domestic terrorists?

Freedom to Vote Act? How about Freedom to Cheat.

The Federal Government has shown remarkable competence in handling what lately?

It is NOT difficult to vote or obtain an ID. Allowing votes to come in 2 weeks after the election in what way promotes confidence in the integrity of the vote? Most of us are used to deadlines. There are significant interest penalties for mailing in a credit card bill late.

This is a fraud. Paw Paw needs to shelve his angry lamentations. It's not a good act.

The DC mayor instituted a rule where you have to have your vaccination card and photo ID to go to bars, restaurants, nightclubs and gyms.

I guess people that go to bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and gyms do not vote because all of them have photo ID.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't think I've ever heard of an individual that wanted to vote, not be able to vote.

Whose right to vote are they fighting for here? This is theatrical political nonsense.
