School Free Lunch

Our school district got a grant and decided to give the ALL kids free breakfast and lunch through December.
Greenr just saved $400. Nice to be poor. Thanks for all your tax dollars.

backed up. It was quite a surprise to us and yes, I think use it or lose it is the theory here and it helps everyone. However, the ones who need the help most already get free lunch so maybe that wasn't completely thought out.

and included breakfast too.
I haven't looked into it yet, but it must be some money specifically only to be used for food. I would rather pay for my kid's food and the school have all the money they need for PPE, school supplies, etc...

all at once like that, why not keep things status quo, and use this money for stuff they complain about not having later in the year?
John Graham Altman, a former state rep in CHS said years ago that there was never enough money for the school district, and we could give them all of the state budget and they would spend every dime and come back asking for more. For all of his faults, he wasn't wrong about that.

5% (tops) "normal" parents from across the economic spectrum who actively participated in the school and pretty much were the volunteers for everything.
30% Redneck rich parents who thought that $80k a year and a $20k credit card limit made them elite and their kids deserving of special school treatment with no other efforts from the parents
65% Skraight poverty. You never saw the parents volunteer for jack but they were the first ones to raisehell about how bad things were.

A few Saltines with a tiny dab if ketchup on them, some small cup of water, and 2 minutes to eat them before going back to sewing Nike athletic shoes for the elite Americans that can afford such extravagance.

Once in awhile I would let them get school lunches. Now as adults the eat far more healthy than I do and they exercise better too.
