Your best years ended up with Your conference putting you on an extra year of probation and your coach being fired.

'On November 21, 1982, the football program was placed on probation for a 2-year period to include the 1983 and 1984 seasons. This sanction was enforced on the program by the NCAA Committee on Infractions due to a lengthy history of recruiting violations meant to gain an athletic advantage. These recruiting violations took place from 1977 through the Tigers' 1981 National Championship season and into 1982, under the administration of two head coaches, Charlie Pell and Danny Ford. The Atlantic Coast Conference imposed a third year of conference penalty. Over 150 documented violations were found to have been committed under NCAA bylaws in the categories of improper recruiting inducements, extra benefits to student-athletes, unethical conduct, improper financial aid, improper campus visits, improper transportation and entertainment, improper use of funds, improper employment, improper recruiting contact, and distribution of cash to players by members of the coaching staff"

And, yours? Lack of Institutional Control and, a slap on the wrist. One benefit of being in the SEC is, no real punishment. Currently on probation.

That's what you guys sold your soul for. 4th place conference finish and #4 ranking. Oh and, a make believe Bowl Season Championship.

Absolutely delusional

Jan 9, 2014, 9:16 AM [ in reply to Re: MUST READ ]

Danny was fired in '90! And you obviously have no idea what these violations were.... I will help you out: the biggest violation we had was paying a dentist bill for a player that had left the program! Look it up.

Your best years (NOW) has you on probation for 3 years

Jan 9, 2014, 9:47 AM [ in reply to Re: MUST READ ]

The NCAA had Clemson on 2 years probation for something involving two recruits who never played for Clemson or even division I football anywhere. USuC on the other hand is currently on 3 years probation for players who started for USuC and contributed to some of the W's.

Jan 9, 2014, 9:57 AM [ in reply to Re: MUST READ ]

And we WON it all. You still can't win anything and you've been on probation more times than Clemson.

So i'll ask you, just how smart is that? you cheat and get nothing for it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

HGH, cheating, culling players, probation, etc...

Jan 9, 2014, 12:05 PM [ in reply to Re: MUST READ ]

...of "tigerstripe777". I would assume that this is evidence of your Clemson envy. And, before you think about it don't even try to pretend you are a Detroit Tigers fan, et al. You clearly know you are on a Clemson website and a person of integrity would not try to disguise his cootness with any name implying they are a Clemson fan.

I thought it was really interesting how you said that the analysis shouldn't be based on final rankings and then based it on final rankings.

It's not......

Jan 9, 2014, 12:04 PM

I also included winning percentage and accomplishments from said seasons, idiot. Final rankings are a part of the equation though

In all seriousness, you can't possibly compare ZERO

Jan 9, 2014, 12:12 PM [ in reply to Re: MUST READ ]

championships to Clemson's best stretch in history.

By the way, our coach just finished his 5th season. Yours just finished his 9th. His first 5 years he didn't do squat. Let's see where ours is in year 9.

In any case the comparison that Will pulled off Facebook is absurd. Holier than Swiss cheese. The very fact you coots so desperately cling to nonsense such as that is because you're butthurt over the way things turned out this year, that is, Clemson snatching NATIONAL exposure and accolades while the coots were relegated to winning a game nobody watched and backing their way into the top 10.

That is a New York Times Article!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If I remember correctly the acc much later admitted

Jan 9, 2014, 9:27 AM

That the extra year of probation was added in violation of the acc charter. It was pushed through by the powers at unc who was repulse at the idea of a dirty football program ( at the time).
