According to a study by

May 15, 2021, 5:56 PM

UCLA, UC Berkley and Penn State: Nothing done prior to the current generation's existence was done correctly. The study found that personkind would be in much better shape had all of humanity refrained from any activity until such time that the current generation was born. Had this been the case, we would be in a state of utopia with absolutely zero problems.

here is the official list, in so far as Baby Boomers

May 15, 2021, 6:17 PM

killed off half of the species on the planet
Benefited from socialist programs then canceled them when they were done
for the most part racist
didn't pay taxes, bought boats and 2nd homes in Florida instead
left country in debt
left country ecologically and environmentally challenged
greedy
spent entire lives slowing human progress.
falls for Fox News
LEAST hard-working generations ever.
Gave us NAFTA and everything else dumb, then tried to blame it on the younger generations.
your grandchildren hate you, first time in recorded human history.
future generations will blame all of the world's problems on you
History will name you the worst generation ever.
Most of your tombstones will be kicked over and replaced by electric vehicle charging stations

What a list!! I was born in 1964 so I just made the cut as a boomer. Thank goodness. I would have hated to miss out on all that fun.

Truth, Boomers really do !@$% a bit. The sad reality is, Boomers really are kind of New Money, came into a world that broke just right for them because Europe and Asia had bombed themselves into the Stone Age because of WWII, badly needed to rebuild, and America itself had no wartime damage and had built this massive industry to convert. Perfect storm: we had the ability to make an eff-ton of goods, had gads of spare industrial capacity and shipping, and the rest of the world badly needed everything we could make.

Of course America prospered, bigly, under those conditions. The 1950's were really good to us, and it must have seemed like a Golden Age that would last forever. You can see the gleaming hope of that Golden Age to Come in Leave it to Beaver, in the wistful naivety of Andy Griffith Show, in that Future That Never Was where Americans regarded science as this cure-all Jetsons/World's Fair Futuretopia instead of this b!tch-mean Cyberpunk Dark Future thing to be dreaded that Fox News and its ilk spins it out as today.

I think the Boomers sort of expected that would last forever, and when it didn't, it feels like they're getting petulant, terrified, and more than a little well-I'm-taking-my-football-and-going-home. And if it messes up their kids' lives to keep their own lifestyles going a little bit longer...well, way too many of them seem just fine with that, unfortunately....

Well, club a baby seal just for fun, find a black homeless dude on the street and tell him to get a job, make sure you're driving a 6000 SUX that gets 8.2mpg, and of course, live in a McMansion, while pouring CFC's out the top of one roof vent and raw coal smoke out of the other, even though your house doesn't use coal, just because you know it p!sses off a Lib. And of course, you wanna do whatever you can do to wreck Social Security...if there's a penny left in there when we get to it, you haven't done it right. Live like a Pharaoh, bro.

I know you're kind of a baby for a a Baby Boomer, but see what your elders are doing, and get to it, man!

there is no rule saying you have to be born before 1964 to be a "boomer", I know of several boomers on this board that are in their 30s.

truth be told, I took a lot of crap from people on this board for job-hopping the entire eastern seaboard the last 6 years, So I had my one day to "humblebrag". I earned this, the company has increased sales 1000%, or more than doubled every year since I took over. This move guarantees my boss an early retirement cause now he knows I am not going anywhere.

My employer has access to a tremendous amount of wealth, I don't. It cost just under a million in reinvestment to get the company back off the ground and in the black. The good news is that the other 2 owners pay themselves 5k a year, and removed all of the debt from the business. So we have already met payroll with sales in May. everything we get in the door from here until the rest of the year is all profit. Granted we will spend a lot of that on another hire and more toys, but I would be a fool to walk away from this.

Awesomesauce. I would recommend you start with the baby seals. If you can't bash this face in with a rolling pin and enjoy it, you're probably just not cut out for the rest of that list. <img border=">">

Do you have it in you...to be a true Boomer?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: here is the official list, in so far as Baby Boomers

May 16, 2021, 4:57 PM

Well let me see. Hmmm?? I doubt I could bash the baby seal. My wife once had me drive 30 miles to take an orphaned baby squirrel to a rescue shelter. Never told a homeless guy to get a job but I have given away a house, a car, money, food , and other items to poor folk. All of the above is true.
I do drive fuel hungry trucks because I have a farm and a business and pull “heavy stuff”. Not sure how I’m destroying social security but I’ll ponder it?? I’ve never taken government handouts other than the dadgum checks Uncle Joe keeps sending in the mail. Heck, he sent me a letter yesterday telling me I’ll get another one within 7 days.
How am I doing? Do I have boomer potential??

I like how Boomers blame them breakdown of morality and the tearing of the social fabric on the loss of the nuclear family, yet continue to divorce at higher and higher rates than any previous generation, and raised children in broken homes. Millennials get married later and at lower rates than boomers, but our divorce rate is so low that it is bucking all historical trends.

I say this from a place of privilege having grown up in a two parent home.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Boomers got you to

May 15, 2021, 8:19 PM

This point. That counts for something...although some (Boomers) may question themselves, given the 'noise' from your generation. That said, our folks said/thought the same, so you have a 'hall pass'. Carry on, wise one.

salary. It's only fair. Take your income and divide equally, maybe a bit more for the people that have worked there longer. Newbies need to take a lower pay.
