The problem here for Trump is that Eastman - and especially Rudy - are almost certain to have gobs of stuff on Trump they can share. Rudy's openly stated he's got "insurance" on Trump before.
The second they get chucked under the bus - and they will, Michael Cohen has started calling it the "under the bus club" - one can almost be assured, share with the Feds they will.
I can only imagine how many of Trump's skeletons Rudy knows about. He's been in Trump's orbit forever.
Eastman going down is bad for Trump. Losing Rudy is probably worse than losing Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg. Especially because Weisselberg is obviously a loyal and bulldog-stubborn fella who is risking doing anywhere from 10 to 15 years in jail by not rolling on Trump after being charged with numerous counts of tax fraud.
But Rudy? Well, he's Rudy, and is likely to walk a client charged with fraud into murder charges, if you look at his foot-in-mouth track record.

Well, the Catch-22 there is, all the sane and competent people - even the long-term loyalists who stood to benefit from a continuing Trump regime - one and all held out empty palms when told to overturn the election, and said: "Uh...no bueno, President Sir, can't do that, that sh!t is like, wildly illegal...so peace, and I'm out. Get good lawyers, y'all, you're gonna need 'em."
Even Pence did that. As did Bill Barr, Hirschmann, the entire White House counsel staff, heck, even Jared and Ivanka, it looks like. There's been a veritable Who's Who procession of former Trump admin officials across the 1/6 Committee hearings, all singing like canaries and getting a mile out from under the path of the sh!thammer before it descends.
Which left the nincompoops. Which is all you're usually left with when you're doing something spectacularly stupid, like trying to mount a coup in the United States of America.

be hot garbage. Having said that, after the 2020 election I did manage to pull a couple of my conservative acquaintances out of the QAnon cult. It took a little work but I finally convinced them the whole Q thing is total garbage and most likely being peddled by someone (or a group) with information operations/warfare experience or training.
During my time in the military, one of my good Infantry buddies transitioned to an “Information Operations” functional area. This was a somewhat new field for the conventional Army at the time (most of this stuff was “spook” world stuff and was more of a 3 letter Government agency function) and so “Don” (my buddy) and I would talk about his new field quite a bit. The Army didn’t really conduct the same types of information operations as the spooks (i.e. use targeted information and dis-information to topple Governments, establish insurgencies etc..) but we did use the same methods but with truthful information when I was in Iraq in order to try and pacify the local populations.
Without going into my own conspiracy theory as to the "who" and "why" of QAnon, I do find the methods of the QAnon to be similar to those of an IO. The best information operation always starts with two basic elements:
1. It takes the smallest sample of truth or real event and sprinkles it with a heavy dose of miscellaneous (or even outlandish) information meant to reinforce a preexisting bias in the target.
2. Once a target is buying into the operation the info op then works the flow of information in a manner as to grow the movement. They do this based on the reactions and inputs they get from the target audience.
Depending on the type of information operation being waged, the information can be totally false so long as it is useful in grabbing the target, confirming their bias, getting them to react in a manner they desire and spreading the campaign to others. From my perspective - that is exactly what QAnon does. It plays to an inner paranoia of some conservatives and feeds their susceptibility and desire for an alternate reality to be true.
Most political "messaging" is a low level IO but was traditionally kept at a reasonable level of truth because of the negative consequences of having blatantly false information exposed by the supposed guardians of truth - the main stream media.
Unfortunately, as our media has moved towards "narrative journalism" they have become more participant in political IO campaigns and less arbiters of truth. This has opened the door for groups like QAnon to step in and sell their alternate reality garbage. I really do think that if people felt they could trust the main stream media's reporting (which many conservatives don't) groups like QAnon wouldn't find the oxygen to spread their bogus garbage.

Well, if it turns out Q is some sort of Chinese disinformation campaign to sow unrest and suspicion about American institutions...you don't think that's significant?
Because I do. This active-disinformation stuff is real, and our enemies are figuring out how to weaponize our own internet against us to try to turn us against one another.
Russia's been doing it for years. China jumping into the game - and in a very different way - would be a very significant escalation. Build a digital cult that's literally awaiting the day they can murder the rest of us, and make it fester inside our own population?
That'd definitely be significant, I would argue.
