So, how did Bucks win Natty & we didn't even though both...

teams had about the same talent returning..went thru QB issues..but Clemson had #1 D..but Bucks found a better RB..but both coaching staffs intact..etc.
I know..a stupid question, but stupid is..stupid does..so don't flame since I'm skin sensitive! LOL

They played two ACC teams in a row and lost, then

an easy Big 10 schedule that put them in the final. From there an over rated Bama team and a finesse team were their only hurdles.
If Clemson had the same schedule as them, we could be the ones with the trophy. Sometimes it takes a little luck, and they got that luck.

They were 3 deep with studs at QB.....we were not. It's that simple. There was no drop off when their qb got hurt. I thinks it's safe to say we had a tiny lil bit of dropoff

candidate, you can go pretty far in the season with that depth.
When Watson when down, I think it did more than just hurt the talent pool...it let a lot of the 'air' out of our offense. We no longer had the run threat and the calm, battle ready demeanor of Watson. This is NO knock on Cole b/c I know he was injured a bit too. We essentially had no other options and our offense sputtered a bit.
That combined with the fact that we wet the bed against FSU. Very VERY costly fumbles and missed FGs in that game. FSU gets in a ton of talent every season. They should never be underestimated...even without a Winston.

the depth of talent. When you look at it on paper, we had ZERO business beating them last year. Games like that always come to mind when football gurus like york_I_lost_a_bet_and_I_will_honor_it_tiger comically say Dabo never wins big games.
And by the way, "4x" was a just guess based on estimated quantity of 4 and 5 star players.
