Taken against Sandusky and fired him immediately none of this would be happening. No NCAA punishment. Nothing. This all lies on JoePa.

This all lies on JoePa? Why? Because he is the most famous?

What about Sandusky?
What about the red headed guy who actually watched it happen? Mcquery I believe.
What about the president who JoePa told?
What about the BOT who the president told?
This does not lie on a single person and you are a fool if you think it does. I would imagine the entire BOT knew about this just as the president. Just because emails have no proven so doesnt mean it wasn't spoken about.
Please do not get me wrong, I am not taking any blame away from any single person, but they are not the only one, and this does not solely lie on one person.

There were no emails from JoePa saying to cover it up. This is the problem when uninformed people spout off with a knee jerk reaction. Concerning the 1998 incident I'll give you a quote from the Freeh report concerning the 1998 incident:
"While no information indicates University leaders interfered with the investigation, Spanier, Schultz, Curley, and Paterno were kept informed of the investigation"
Additionally, it is not as if this incident was handed over to authorities. Here are a few of the departments that investigated this event and concluded there was no wrong doing:
Centre County Children and Youth services Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Centre County District Attorneys Office PSU Campus Police
All of these agencies cleared Sandusky of criminal behavior and psychologists who interviewed both Sandusky and and the accusers concluded that no molestation had occured. I wonder if the puppet master Jow Paterno controlled all of these folks.
Seriously come on, while he may not have covered his ### and while he may have even gone as far as to hope unwisely that his assistant coach did not do these things, There can be no way to deduct that Joe Paterno knew of child molestation from 1998-2001.

runs the football program. Dabo. Paterno was the HC, it was his program, Sandusky was his employee. But in PSU's case it is far worse. Paterno was the most powerful person at PSU, some say in the entire state. Are you apologists really this stupid?

take it up with them, the da, the county's health admin and others as to why the case was closed in 1998.

there is a link to the original report within this link.
this is a horrible situation that could have ended here. paterno was not involved, freeh says he later became aware of this.
i haven't seen anyone that thinks psu shouldn't pay dearly for their part.
my only contention is this was completely mishandled by the president, administration and should not have fallen under ncaa's purview.
i would not have said word one had the feds shut down PSU in its entirety for any amount of time.

It all boils down to this ..... football became more important than anything else at Penn State. That is why the NCAA became involved. My only regret is that a few other schools we are all familiar with got away with major infractions and the NCAA turned their heads. Although the scandal at chapel hill is minor in comparison to the psu debacle, it still deserved much more punishment than was given. In their case they certainly gained a competative edge on the playing field.Perhaps it isn't over but I will be surprised if more charges are made public. It is very obvious to even the dumbest fan what went on in the football program at unc.
