Yes. Liberty wants to be on the national stage.

Few programs ascend in a uniform fashion.
Freeze is very much worth 4 million to them.
Just like Franklin is worth over 7 million to PSU.

Franklin hasn't done much of anything to garner $7 million annually.

In the current market for coaches it is fair to say that Franklin has done enough and recruiting looks good and there isn’t a better candidate to fill the job. I went into a little more detail (as did others) why this is the case on another thread started by JK about Franklin and PSU.

I would agree...

that there probably isn't a better candidate to replace him.
That said, the fact that Franklin is a paltry 2 - 13 all time against top 10 opponents (0 - 3 this season) and just 10 - 19 against ranked opponents, does not sit well with the Penn State faithful.
Recruiting is pretty solid but the only other thing he can hang his hat on are the three 11-win seasons in 2016, 2017, and 2019 although the 2016 season still had a bunch of Bill O'Brien recruits

their extensive online degree programs.
They have many thousands of students doing distance learning to get a Liberty degree. A recognizable football team is really important for brand awareness, as well as building unity among alumni who don’t have any other physical connection to the school.

Liberty has more than 127,000 students pursuing degrees...

of which, only about 8,000 live in on-campus housing.
That's an awful lot of commuters and on-line students.
