Dabo Swinney on his philosophy with the transfer portal

Love this man to death but his outlook on this is a bit off...We need to get away from being the program that supplies the portal only...If we are that "coveted offer" that we keep hearing about from these recruits than we could really cash in big on the Portal...

If last season was any indication of how are development is then we are in trouble....

People like you simply aren’t very bright or you’re like liberals you know better but you’re part of the problem so you perpetuate the propaganda.

Dabo has been the head coach for 11 years. The portal only became a big thing 2 years ago. Dabo even said things have changed!

Dabo did all those things before the portal. The past two years our season has ended with an epic beat down by teams that kicked our ### with players from the portal! If you’re not smart enough to see that you need to reevaluate and open your eyes!

Maybe @$$ clowns like you should just simply find another team to root for..

Why does everything have to be political. I assume that someeone who doesn’t agree with you has to be a Democrat, and there are none of those folks who have as much good sense as you do. If I want to hear demeaning political comments I can sign in to Fox News or MSNBC. On Tigernet I expect to read about the Tigers, without any political name calling. So please, in the future, when you are posting here, keep your politics to yourself. On this site we’re all Tigers. Not Liberal Tigers or Conservative Tigers, just folks who have one big thing in common - the love of our Tigers. Thanks for listening to my request for civility.

The next few years will be very telling.

I don't think Dabo is going to sacrifice our standing in college football by avoiding taking transfers when needed. Will he build a team with the majority of the major players coming from the portal? No.

4,5,6 scholarship guys for no real reason of note, it might be worth looking into.

To have someone in a program a couple of years, then replace that person with a transfer WILL come back to bite you in the ###. Do this enough times and no one will trust you.

A lot of truth in that but I'd like to mention we lost our last 2 playoff games to a transfer QB.'s.

Can’t remember their names but one was a linebacker who came from Oklahoma with coach BV and the other was a QB. I could be wrong but I think the QB came from Stanford or something like that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Kellen Jones was the LB...The QB was a graduate transfer, I

assumed the other transfer was Nick Schuessler, who enrolled at Mississippi State but never actually played there...He did walk on here, not sure if that counts either

Portal or no portal. He's a winner. And what's interesting about Clemson Football is how he's achieved success. With a two-tiered system. Clemson has stars like DW4, CW42, TL16, Tee, IS11, ETN, Nuk, Sammy, CJ, etc. and a whole group of smaller players in stature and talent levels who work hard, make good grades, and would never be allowed on a Danny Ford team.

The stars produce and the practice players are great teammates who love to be at Clemson. It's been a winning formula for Clemson. Bama, Ohio St, and even UGA have much deeper teams than Clemson, but when you have DW4 or TL16 and a solid or outstanding Defense like the 2018 squad, Clemson can beat anybody. The past six years have been hugely successful, and 2021 looks like another great year in the making with a solid Defense led by Murphy, Bresee, and Skalski, and a rebuilding Offense that will need to produce vs. UGA then will have the regular season to get sharp for another playoff run.
