I am a Right Wing Nut
Jun 19, 2022, 5:39 PM
|

I was at Clemson when Goldwater ran for president. He was the favorite among my friends. In the day could care less as to all that, did not keep up. I had no idea as to politics. I knew Floyd Patterson was special and that Coach Frank Howard was going to rebound from 5-4-1 (we went 3-7).
A few years back, I was seen as a moderate. I have not changed, but all around me has.

And by real hippie, I assume you never sold out and voted for Reagan? I know my dad at least groomed his beard and got a job working at a local newspaper when he returned from Vietnam, but he remained a real hippie on the inside.
Old balm here has had hair down to his shoulders since college. I still "freak out the squares", and there are no shortage of them in Martin County Florida. One of our clients thought I was walking into the office to rob the place until the owner introduced me as their director.

You’re not a revolutionary. You’re not counterculture. You’re just brainwashed! You wouldn’t know science facts or reality if it got shoved up your rear end with a red hot poker! You are one of the useful idiots. You will wake up one day. As Yuri Bezmenov said in his 1984 interview you will wake up when the boot of communist fascist authoritarianism is literally crushing your face and your balls! Because when you get the revolution you want people like you will be the first ones they execute because they won’t need you anymore!
Millions and millions of Democrats are going to vote Republican this fall and in 2024 because their eyes have been opened and they are waking up to the propaganda and the brainwashing! The only reason Biden won is because of the mail in balloting which was done illegally. Unconstitutional. Oh and the fact that the media Hollywood the music industry the publishing industry big tech especially social media shows we’re all engaged in a conspiracy and coup I guess the Trump administration for four years. Don’t believe me. Matt Taibbi and Glenn Greenwald are lifelong Democrats. But they’re both objective investigative journalists that see the insanity coming from the left.

TBalm, you do not need to move the needle with me. I see you as one of the last free souls. You have my respect.
As I am unemployed, have not cut my hair in years, not even a trim. That is not to make a statement as I am a hermit. I am lazy and nearly bald.
I do wash a lot. I keep Ivory soap at the dock. Coach Saban does the same.

the far left is certainly not peace and free love these days, and that is a shame. The center may have shifted slightly to the right(Nixon and Obama were very similar on Policy), but the extremes on both sides have moved much further from said center, that should be concerning if this continues.

You grew up with CNN and believe hippies were left wing? The deal was drugs and Rock & Roll. Real hippies did not give a #### as to politics. Many of the tunes had a good beat and were easy/fun to sing along with.
Real hippies did not dress in those costumes.

I can agree with that sir. Just seems the MSM and the last three administrations (counting the current) want division across party lines and racial lines. It's a shame. I get along with most everyone. I give respect until it isn't given back. Hopefully things improve. I think that can be said for most people.

not being cooperative, but actively sabotaging the country to make things worse just so they can get into power (and then the other side will try to sabotage them). You are right that it has happened in the last three administrations, both sides have done it.

Well the left does control/make up 94%+ of the MSM. That's a tad bit of bias in reporting. One would think? Four huge comglomarates control all media - that includes Fox News. Journalist are supposed to leave bias at the door before speaking to the public. Doesn't happen, and hasn't in years. I'm not a Trump fan boy but despite Uncle Joe having virtually all the MSM support he's still the lowest approved president at this point in his term. Yep, behind Trump. I'm quite sure Ole Joe is the lowest approved president in our history.
People vote with their wallets primarily. Costs me $90 to fill up my car. Would've been about $40 under our previous adminiatration. Craziest thing to me is roughly 1% of the population are catered to and make the rules for the other 99%. Up is down. Down is up. Country is going to $-h1t quickly

that has been the playbook going back to Goldwater. Prior you had ultra moderate Republicans like Eisenhauer. Nixon was seen as radical, but if you look at his accomplishments in office, well, I might as well list them...
Ended the Draft Withdrew troops from Vietnam Used diplomacy to ease cold war tensions with China. signed the Clean Air Act of 1970, and the Clean Water Act. he signed the Endangered Species Act of 1973 He established a new relationship with the Middle East, eliminating Soviet dominance in the region. concluded the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with the Soviet Union. He proposed forcing private insurance companies to cover everyone regardless of prior health condition, and the government subsidizing those unable to pay.(aka obamacare), unbfortunately he was booted out of office before this could happen.
Had Obama accomplished half of this, he would have been seen as a hero to the left, instead he faced gridlock after passing a watered down version of what Nixon had proposed 35 years prior.
He did a lot of bad #### too, criminalizing marijuana as a schedule 1 caused a lot of damage in the long run, but the pendulum had swung back hard to the right on that one when the counter culture movement took to the streets, you know hippies...
Anyway, point being, socially, yes, we have moved quite a bit to the left, but policy wise, Nixon was much further to the left than say, Clinton.

crime historically has been going down for the ;ast 30 years, don't let the news outlets fool you on that one. However, the past 2 years have seen a recent uptick, but nothing like the late eighties and early nineties during the crack epidemic. The late 70s were not so great either, most of our major cities were in far worse shape then than now.
and I tire of the sensationalism, we can have whatever country we like as soon as we stop fighting each other of trivial BS. If we continue to stay a nation divided, things will not end well.

What gets me is the selective reporting of the MSM. 47 people were shot in Chicago just this past weekend. One weekend. MSM doesn't report that. You have to dig deep for that info. Multiply that, just the weekends, by 4 and its more than the total mass shootings per year. It doesn't fit the narrative. Its predominantly same race shootings. You won't hear these numbers on the nightly news.

The Republican Party is closer to the center right now than ever. And there are no extremes on the right. There are very few extremists on the right and they are not recognized by conservatives are libertarians and they are completely rejected and ostracized.
That there are all these extremists this far right this alt right is absolutely ######## coming from the left. Millions and millions of Moderates and liberals talk about how the Democrats have moved to the far far left. These folks have not moved at all it’s the Democrats that have lost their minds and become a cult.

in the 60s and 70s. Many of Nixon's policies would be called the big scare word "socialist" today. The Reagan era greatly shifted the country to the right overall.
Also compared to other countries in the world, the USA is def more right wing. The idea that the country is getting radically shifted to the left that the right is pushing is not based on anything really except a few niche transgender talking points.
But it's effective because people care about the culture war clickbait stuff and making the other side mad more than anything else these days.

To say otherwise is to, literally, bury your head in the sand.
In 7 of the last 8 Presidential elections the democrat nominee has gotten more votes than the Republican nominee.
Look at the demographics of America. And, what is to come.
I don’t like it. But, I am honest.
I do think the republicans will take back the house and the senate in November and quite possibly the Presidency in 2024. Biden is even worse than Obama and a backlash is inevitable. This may be the last hurrah for the GOP although the climate actually looks good in the 2024 cycle for open seats for the GOP.
But, as much as it pains me to say it - America is headed for permanent democrat majority. The nations best days are in the rear view mirror. The country is dying.
Now, I can also see a scenario when the nation splits, so to speak. Red and blue states. I’m cool with that.
Reality is painful.
But, I just sit back and watch the decline and giggle.

Yes, we are an unlikely couple of friends. I believe we are that.
The biggest deal is we can all debate as to things like the world is flat. Some of the 'salt of the Earth' folks I know vary on all things. Debate is great fun. I no longer have time for hate.

It has been rumored that Pritzker may run on the democratic ticket for president. Please don’t vote ever for that idiot. He has been an awful governor here in Illinois. For some reason these billionaires think they know how to run a state or country, but politics and companies are way different.

NY and California easily sway the popular vote. Thank God our forefathers had the insight so every state is represented regardless of population. Heavy Blue in the NW, NE and Cali but then the rest of the what they call the flyover states seem to be predominantly red. Just not as many people populate those states since most of it is farm fields.
