Went by my mom's house to grab my grandma's cast iron skillet that I plan to steal and it looks like my oldest brother has done his level best to fuck it up. Thanks bro!
Don't have time to fix it and re-season by tomorrow. Anyone got a quick fix?

You could prob just scour it good and then dry and oil it.

Probably be fine to use until you can give it a full makeover.

Whatchu using it for?

It's not pristine but not beyond salvaging. I'd just scour it (hot water, or use a coarse kosher salt rub) and grease it well.

If you are frying just buff the rust out and use plenty of grease if something else probably the same.

I would put hot soapy water in it and bring it to a low boil for

5 min, then scrub it with a stiff brush. Then heat it over med low heat till bone dry, then pour a 50-cent piece sized blob of canola oil or similar into the middle. Whilest hot, wipe that blob all over the interior with an old t-shirt or similar until it's as soaked in as it will get. Add more canola oil if necessary. Heat over low heat till that's as soaked in as it will get. If it still looks dry (maybe in that middle part where it got hot) add more canola, swish around. In the heating process after a few minutes, you're trying to wipe out all the excess oil you can get.
Good luck, it really doesn't look that bad.

Heat it and scrub it with a brillo pad or some coarse sandpaper then wash it with hot water and scrub again with a brillo and dish washing liquid. Heat a bit until it's dry and coat it, top, bottom and sides with crisco shortening or bacon fat if you have some and stick it in an oven preheated to 400 degrees.
Never again use it on top of the stove. If you do you can repeat the process of seasoning it by scrubbing it with steel wool or a scotchbrite and do the coating again.

Searing steaks is probably what got it in that condition. The moisture in food will remove the coating. I don't imagine you'd want to sear steak in oil so I'd suggest using a stainless pan.
If you're going to use it for anything other than a baking pan the condition of the pan isn't critical. Scrub it clean and oil it with whatever cooking oil you have.
