handled negotiations with the school to reinstate programs, threats of lawsuits and insinuations of impermissible benefits, could be off putting to fans and will negatively impact attendance at track and field events.
Let’s hope this won’t be the case.

If so, revenue could theoretically decline to the point that track and field is no longer self-supporting and would require funding from other sports. A serious problem indeed.

You guys are still complaining that Clemson kept its Men's Track & Field and CC team? It's like you're complaining about winning WW2 because of the whole DDAY invasion strategy. Put me firmly on the side of the end justifies the means.

They have publicly accused the football program of providing impermissible benefits to their players. They’ll just try to burn the whole AD down if they don’t get what they want.
I can’t abide that. FYI- I am a fan of T&F and one of the few on this board to have ever attended meets at Clemson as well as Nationals and ACC championships.

1 individual athlete expressed their concern over this issue. It would be like saying you speak for the entire Clemson alumni base when it's just your individual opinion. Plus If you have ever been involved in legal affairs, you know once something is in the hands of the attorneys, the case or possible case, can go in many different directions.

So, why did the opinion of one athlete make it into the complaint? That wouldn’t make any sense. The legal complaint was representing the entire program, no?

Hareligh, a very bright young lady, speaks for herself, just like the article cited. The attorneys were the student-athlete's attny and not #saveclemson's so whatever folks say is within their rights. You can see my comments and I didn't talk about these observations so get a grip on reality. Our group did exactly what we had to do to get our programs back. What we realized thru the nearly 6 month ordeal is that many of you cannot accept FACTS and DATA. You were one of the loudest ones claiming their was Title 9 issue. Now what do you have to say?
Have you read the signed legal agreement that Clemson signed? If you had, then you would realize how out of line you are. Good day.

Nobody is entitled to anything but respect and decency. If you don't have a good handle on all the reasons why a 112 year-old, very successful program, and least expensive sport on campus should not be eliminated, I am afraid this is a moot discussion.

I don’t care what suit you were involved in and that’s not what we’re talking about here. This isn’t about you. We are talking about a recent article. The article in question said that the accusation of football giving improper benefits was part of their planned lawsuit.
Here’s a concept you don’t seem to understand: When you hire a lawyer to “represent” you, that’s exactly what they do...everything they say is as if the complainant said it themselves. Their words are by definition the complainants words. It doesn’t matter who made a claim or if only one person made the claim, it’s in the complaint. So, anything in the complaint is considered the words of everyone that’s signed on to the complaint. So, that is why I can accurately say that the athletes (through their lawyer) made false claims against the football program.
I believe the article said that the accusations didn’t make it to the final complaint Clemson signed so I don’t know why you bring that up. That also doesn’t have anything to do with what we’re talking about.
My comments had nothing to do with whatever your group did or didn’t do. I only brought up that you got named dropped in the same article. Makes one wonder if you agree with the accusations.
I don’t recall harping on Title IX. The fact that there are Title IX issues has nothing to do with this discussion. The issue here is claiming improper benefits by football and trying to basically blackmail the AD.

There is nothing more exciting than waking up on Wednesday afternoon in the Spring - to watch Track Meet Day Live! Being broadcast from Clemson - then having to sit through all the lesser Track Meets before watching the main event from Clemson at 2:30 on the Home and Garden Network.....

Drive around the parking lots at Clemson (or any other school in the this country) and you will see a preponderance of vehicles that should not be driven by students. Doesn't mean anything other than Mom and Dad have no common sense.
Is it a stretch to think that the same would be true for athletes of any sport?
At all institutions where I worked, MOST of the cars driven by students were nicer than MOST of the cars driven by faculty.
