Many believe that, in order to be a great program

In the future, you will have to buy players. As of right now I can’t argue that point. Perhaps our coach is hoping this new ruling will be nullified and we can return to the elite status we once had. No one will argue when I say that great teams are built from great players. It is beyond sad that this has happened to the game we all love so deeply. How did we ever get to this point in amateur athletics? I guess the NCAA is to blame and that is a reasonable guess because they have lacked good leadership for years. NIA is likely here to stay and it will be difficult as fans of Clemson and a few other programs, to see our team become “also fans”. But that is where we are headed. Beyond sad,

Dabo can't just neglect the program or maybe a better way to put it is......Dabo can't put our program at a disadvantage by not utilizing every resource that's available just because he "DOESN'T LIKE IT".............and I realize he's setting up NIL things with the program the way NIL was "INTENDED" to be used, but he's snubbed his nose at the portal from the beginning and his reluctance to truly embrace it as a means to UPGRADE our program (not build it) is very detrimental.

He!! I HATE smart phones and what it's done/doing to society, but guess what..........I have and use one...........it's the new world and Dabo's got to adapt.

I know it's popular to lay the blame for not using the portal on Dabo but is it really his fault? Perhaps our two NIL collectives have not raised sufficient money to compete for the top players in the portal? You know, the ones talented enough to actually help us on the field.

Does anyone know how much money has been raised by the Clemson NIL collectives and how much money they have committed to players on an annual basis? How many of you have actually donated to the collectives?

Its one thing to embrace the portal but the $$$ needed for success must be in place.

#1. Not every portal player is getting 7 figures to transfer
#2. Every P5 school in the country has found a way to upgrade relative to their talent through the portal..........and before people say "we're more talented than most schools"......we have Drew Swinney on our 2-deep WR rotation, I promise you there is a better WR that wouldn't warrant the money you're referring to.
#3. I don't know the "numbers" in our collectives.......not sure any on here do, but had Dabo been more PROACTIVE with embracing the Portal / NIL back when it started rather than making comments in the media about "not wanting it to be professional".....or things like "when it does I'll know it's time for me to get out of coaching"..........(I know what he meant when he made those comments, but the perception was much worse as in most cases PERCEPTION is reality). We could go "ALL-IN" in the portal today and we'd have many problems at first in getting players to come here b/c of the PERCEPTION of how Dabo/Clemson views transfers.........I think we're seeing a little bit of that now as evidence of the portal guys we've "struck out" on.

Was actually the courts that changed the system

NCAA, worthless as it is, was powerless to change the ruling. Now, when it comes to enforcing not coercing players in recruiting or tampering in the portal, they are just their normal, useless selves

hands of the whole NIL deal after the courts came down against them. But, NIL WAS forced onto the NCAA by the court system of the land, with lawsuits brought by players.

If college football as we used to know it is to be saved at all, SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE has to get into a position of authority, and come up with some real rules governing NIL that make sense, and take the "auction bidding" aspect out of it.

NIL is a federal law and is not going anywhere. It is really simple, male and female athletes in every sport have a right to be paid and no Congress will take that right away.

As far as being "Elite", 10 people will have 10 different ideas of what that is. We won the ACC this year, won 11 games and were in a New Year's Six Bowl which makes us pretty dadgum "Elite".
