Trump is already making a big mistake.

Instead of attacking Kamala Harris on her performance as Biden's lap dog, which would be easy enough to do, he is already instead attacking her personally, getting so petty as to insult the way she laughs? He has been handed a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket back to the White House, but danged if he may not throw it away if he alienates women with attacks on Kamala just being a woman, or a woman of color, instead of just a routine Liberal nutjob.

Unfortunately for them, that kind of conduct isn't going to win the election this November. Moderate Republicans, independents, and moderate Democrats aren't voting for someone like that.

Well the vast majority of attacks on Trump are personal, instead of policy based, so does this assertion only apply to one party or politics in general because personal attacks are pretty much the norm these days.

Well, to be fair, personal attacks on Trump are generally related to actions (rape, financial crime, etc) and inaction (sit idly by while a mob breaks into the Capitol)…there’s also his narcissistic personality disorder.
I guess I can see how all that is less objectionable than someone’s laugh.

is something he has NEVER been able to do. No way to ever prove it, but I would say his being on Twitter just about every DAY while he was President, spouting off some nonsense or other, instead of taking that time to do something constructive, could be a big factor in why he lost the 2020 election.
I read another post on here that described Trump as "the obnoxious neighbor who runs his snow (or was it leaf?) blower twenty four hours a day." I think the people who held the now infamous debate between him and President Biden actually did Trump a favor by muting his mike when it was not his specific turn to talk. Otherwise, he would have constantly been yakking, like he did in the debates during the 2020 campaign, which didn't do him any favors.

IMO, the Trump campaign should bombard the the country with political ads outlining every Democratic failure from DC to California and every blue state between from COVID to present. Show the Democrat leaders pictures but no names or discussion of individuals, just the issues. It may not even be known who he'll be running against until possibly August 22nd. Then the head to head campaigning can begin.

Pick whatever you think his top 2 or 3 winning issues are: immigration, inflation, village people, whatever. He should stick to those topics for the next 3.5 months of the campaign and ignore his instinct to go after Harris for her race, parents, dancing or whatever. Just don't be weird. Is there literally any possibility he could do this?

This is not surprising.
If the Republicans can take the Senate and hold it or the House for the next 4 years, the best outcome may be for Trump to lose. Harris would be held mostly in check and the Pubs would most likely take back the WH in 2028 with a candidate who is thoughtful and focused on policy rather than the petty.
Trump will probably defeat Trump when it's all said and done and from a long view standpoint that may ultimately be better than what we would get in 2028 after 4 years of Trump.
Trump is a childish man with his personal insults and attacks on a candidate's looks, dress and mannerisms.
DeSantis, Haley, Burgum, Scott and others would have been better candidates, but here we are.

Like you, I voted Republican twice when Trump was running, and will do so again, because of policy, not because of the candidate. The only time I ever let a candidate sway me against that was when I incorrectly elected Jimmy Carter in 1976. All we got out of that was four inept years, almost like Biden, and a new word added to the English lexicon, "malaise".

It also makes more people hate his guts, and motivates them to vote for whoever his opponent may be. His ego won't allow him to face that, so he ignores it, and focuses on those who worship him. Then when he loses, it's because the election was rigged.

The DNC has got reams of focus group data that say the reason Harris polls worse amongst women (prior to the botched debate and all) is because of her laugh.
Which she has pridefully and arrogantly dismissed as sexism and has stated she will cackle away.

There is data on all this stuff.
Women talk crap about other women all the time.
And women don’t like that cackle - it’s not what I think or what you think. It’s a fact and there is polling to prove it. If she doesn’t stop cackling, she’s going to lose.
Word salads? People don’t care. Her Cackle - people don’t like it.

He has missed a golden opportunity to show the world that his near death experience with the assassination attempt has changed him.
The first 10 minutes of his RNC speech where he stayed on topic was great. He seemed to reflect on the situation, acknowledged that God protected him, and talked about coming together as a country. That was perfect.
Instead of continuing that line of thinking, and talking about how he realizes that he has been mean and cruel to people, and focusing on the wrong things, and focusing on being a better person and leader moving forward, he had to go back to his typical rambling speeches where he talked about Biden, Pelosi, stolen election, etc.
Same old Trump.
Then yesterday, not even an hour after Biden announced that he would not be running for re-election, Trump couldn't help himself. Rather than doing the classy thing and saying that although he disagrees with many of Biden's policies, he respects the decades of government service and admires Biden's decision out of devotion to his party and country, Trump went immediately to harsh criticism. He might think Biden is the worst president ever, and he might think Kamala will be even worse, but that wasn't the time to say that.
If Trump truly wanted to unify people, he would've handled that a lot differently.
Moderates, centrists, and independents were watching to see how he would handle last week's RNC speech and Biden's decision to drop out. He didn't sway anyone with his words or his conduct. His behavior this last week has been predictable and lazy, including his choice of Vance as VP. All of this is likely going to come back to haunt him in November when he loses again.

who don't know much about her.
Many prospective voters know her as the VP, but don't really know details about her or the job she did. She has a chance to craft a certain image of herself, with the help of the DNC.
She can paint herself as a sensible Democrat, one who has served as VP but who also has her own ideas of how we can fix things. She will carefully craft her message as one of hope and optimism for everyone, including women and minorities.
Honestly, it won't be hard to look smart and competent when people compare her to Trump.
This messaging will matter in places like Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc.
People are easily fooled, as evidenced by the fact that Biden and Trump were chosen as nominees not once, but twice. Incredible.
