Anybody seen Paul McCartney in concert in the past 5 or so

Feb 18, 2022, 6:35 PM

Years? I’m sure you old heads saw the Beatles back in the day, but asking for more recent. Apparently he’s coming to Baltimore in June, so probably last (and only) chance to see him, but can a 79 year old really make me rock out?

He’s fully vaccinated so I’m sure he’ll

Feb 18, 2022, 6:49 PM

Put on a great show.

Yes. It will rock.

And his band is INCREDIBLE.
Fun stuff I learned about PM last year I learned from Dave Grohl’s book. They are friends, and Paul taught Dave’s daughter, Harper, her first (and possibly only) piano lesson.

Here’s a quick interview question, but the full story in the book is amazing:

Cool story I saw on a recent Beatles documentary. Penny Lane was almost finished, and everyone was happy with it. McCartney just happened to be watching a Bach concert on the BBC one night and fell in love with one instrument solo, the piccolo trumpet.

He got so excited he called up the orchestra and asked who the soloist was. It was a guy named David Mason, I think. So he invited Mason down to their studio and said "I want that instrument in our song...do something like this - and whistled out a tune.

Mason said "that's outside of the instrument's range. It can't be done" McCartney said "I'll bet you could if you really tried." And he did. And that's why there's a piccolo trumpet, with an incredibly high ending note, in Penny Lane.

I like Paul, and I'm glad he's still around playing, but

good God almighty the voice is just completely gone. Be sure nostalgia is why you're there, and you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, it’s going to depend on ticket prices.

I don’t want to pay top dollar for a performance that’s based only on making sure I see a legend before he’s gone.

But I might anyway, cause bottom row UDP, not top row.

Wife went with a friend... She said it was a fantastic show.

He gave a history before each song and the concert was "long"...

the geezer acts the local Jefferson Center gets are like

Feb 19, 2022, 8:33 AM

that. The last one was Gladys Knight. She still sang great, but told a lot of interesting stories. Which makes the performance not so exhausting.

When it comes to those acts...

I'll go see them in a free summer festival setting or a cheap ticket every time. For the ones that still command insane ticket prices, it's not that I wouldn't want to see them but more of a decision on how many other artists I can see for the same money. A $300-400 pair of McCartney tix might mean seeing 10 artists for the same money. Gordon Lightfoot has come around a couple of times in the last few years and his ticket was upwards of $300 per seat (after fees) at the Belk Theater in Charlotte. I would LOVE to him and the venue is very good, but sadly that money is better used elsewhere in the concert budget.

Gordon is commanding that much now???

Feb 19, 2022, 9:35 AM

His voice is shot worse than Sir Paul's, and I have turned down seeing him for $60 in the past couple years. $300!!!!

Pretty sure the lowest a Belk Theater ticket will go for

Feb 19, 2022, 9:40 AM

Feb 19, 2022, 9:44 AM

May cost a little extra to stream on WSUX, but we can do it up right

Sounds like a perfect plan.

Feb 19, 2022, 9:51 AM

For booking a 2022 RH Tig Bass In Your Face solo tour stop, I mean. Tickets in the upper deck start at $400 per seat.

Let’s do it

I’ve been told I’ve got a golden throat and been called the throat goat. So this makes sense.
