The scariest part about the committee ranking ole miss #4

Oct 29, 2014, 9:19 AM

They had to have had them ranked #1 or #2 going into the weekend...

None of this matters til all games are done. The SEC West

Oct 29, 2014, 9:20 AM

teams will eliminate themselves down to 1 or 2 for the playoff.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem is if they try to include 2 loss Bama or Auburn.***

A big indicator will be how far they drop Ole Miss/Auburn

Oct 29, 2014, 9:24 AM

next week. The loser of that game will certainly be the highest-ranked 2-loss team. But how far will they fall? Below Oregon, certainly. Below Michigan St.? How about TCU and KSU?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm willing to bet a lot that they fall behind UGA. 2 losses

Oct 29, 2014, 9:34 AM

at THIS point in the season knocks you out of the top 10...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Won't happen as long as there are other solid 1 loss teams

Oct 29, 2014, 9:32 AM [ in reply to The problem is if they try to include 2 loss Bama or Auburn.*** ]

(Oregon, Mich St. etc.) Win-loss record is undoubtedly the premier factor.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The point it, do you trust someone that would rank ole miss

Oct 29, 2014, 9:27 AM [ in reply to None of this matters til all games are done. The SEC West ]

AFTER a loss. If they fd this one up, whos to say they wont f the last one?!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, I still trust them. Ole Miss is only slightly overrated***

Oct 29, 2014, 9:35 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They didn't have anyone ranked.

Oct 29, 2014, 9:21 AM

This was their first ranking.

They didn't even meet for the first time until Monday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think the point is Ole Miss would have been 1-3 w/win.***

Well, certainly, and they would have well deserved it.***

I agree. Just clarifying. What I found suprising is the

Oct 29, 2014, 9:26 AM

comments on ESPN that there was suprise at Bama not being ahead of them. Crazy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I also got sick of hearing about K St being a quality win.

Oct 29, 2014, 9:27 AM

But I guess the had to tout it...it is the only quality win for SEC outside of conference except UGA over Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you dont think the committee members had an idea

Oct 29, 2014, 9:24 AM [ in reply to They didn't have anyone ranked. ]

Of their Top 25 for a few weeks now? Come on now. Just bc it wasnt public doesnt mean it wasnt there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Which is fine. I don't really understand the outrage.

Oct 29, 2014, 9:24 AM

Make a good argument for Oregon, TCU, or Michigan St to be ahead of them instead of just saying how ridiculous it is.

IMO Oregon has the best case atm with the win over Michigan St, but i think Bama is a slightly better win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree. I might have put Oregon at #4.Unless they get upset

Oct 29, 2014, 9:38 AM

they'll end up there anyway, which goes back to the point that it is premature to get upset this early in the process. The remaining schedule will work out a lot of the controversy. An 8 team playoff would eliminate a lot more...

Re: Which is fine. I don't really understand the outrage.

Oct 29, 2014, 10:51 AM [ in reply to Which is fine. I don't really understand the outrage. ]

But they lost to LSU, which at the time had fallen out of favor being they were only #24. So should they now consider LSU such a quality team that for Ole Miss it is such a great quality loss that there is NO drop in position??? I don't buy it because even after LSU won, they only moved up to #19. #24 beating #4 only moves them up 5, but #4 losing to #24 doesn't drop them AT ALL??? There is no logic in that, only bias...

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My personal top four....

Oct 29, 2014, 9:27 AM

would be Mississippi State, FSU, Bama, and Oregon.

My next two would be TCU and Notre Dame.

Having an Ole Miss team that just lost in the top four ahead of Alabama or Oregon is a bit puzzling IMO.

Of course, that's just me.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Re: My personal top four....

Oct 29, 2014, 9:50 AM

so you would rank Alabama ahead of a team that beat them? head to head means nothing? is that tnet logic?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's the "what have you done lately" mentality***

You would be livid

Oct 29, 2014, 9:42 AM

If a 1 loss Clemson team, who beat FSU (and lost to say Louisville), was ranked below a 1 loss FSU. The committee is high on Bama and Auburn so they have to be high on Ole Miss. Bama or Auburn will miss the playoffs with 2 losses. Ole Miss will lose again, probably this week (or knock Auburn out of the playoffs). Miss St will pick up a loss soon. The SEC will only get 2 teams max so this is all irrelevant. But anyways, if Bama and Auburn are top 6, then Ole Miss has to be top 6 and ahead of Bama due to them having the same record and Ole Miss having the head-to-head.
