Play Big Dex IMO

Jan 3, 2019, 11:45 PM

The burden of proof is not on the accused...it’s on the accuser. The NCAA has a test sample that they cannot prove the player took willingly. I get it, the NCAA shouldn’t have to prove what their tests show, but should they hand down discipline without a fair hearing when they have mega-millions supporting them and players have nowhere near the same?

I feel bad for Dex but I feel even worse for all the other players that have to prove their innocence before a group of individuals that clearly dont give a #### about due process.

Soooo... Run from the police when you're about to be arrested (charged with a crime...yet still assumed innocent) because you haven't yet had your day in court?

Are you about to star in one of those Facebook arrest videos where everyone makes fun of you because you think you understand the law, but end up getting punished worse than you would have in the first place?

You're what we in the Marine Corps would call a "Sea Lawyer" or "Barracks Lawyer."

I, for one, love the creativity and boldness. I'd tune in for sure!

It doesn’t matter if he’s guilty. You can’t play a player

Jan 4, 2019, 9:07 AM [ in reply to You assume he’s guilty?*** ]

that has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA. It would be forfeiting the game.

Even if we lived in a world where the NCAA said “Go ahead and play him, but if he’s not cleared later you’ll have to forfeit the game” can you imagine a coach taking that chance? They would be insane to do so, even if they KNEW he was innocent, because being innocent and proving innocence are not the same thing. And unfortunately, after failing a drug test, the burden of proof IS on us. Those are the rules. And those are the rules to ensure a fair and healthy playing environment for the players. And that’s a good thing.

Geez. It’s not like we have to line up with ten defenders for this game. Everyone knows DL is a big loss but Huggins is awesome. We are in great hands, just a bit thinner.

Yes he's absolutely guilty of having Ostarine in his system

Jan 4, 2019, 9:11 AM [ in reply to You assume he’s guilty?*** ]

And that's all that matters. It's on Clemson to figure out how it got there, not the NCAA.

The NCAA has set the precedent with Alabama (twice) and UNC. Play Dex and sue the #### out of the NCAA if they try anything. We will win that one easily, because the NCAA is too afraid of their corruption being exposed.

The UNC issue was 100x bigger than this and those lawsuits

Jan 4, 2019, 9:30 AM

dragged on for years. We are much better off moving on and working on this issue quietly behind the scenes.

I heard a handicapper say that a good DT is worth about 1/2 a point on a spread. We can win this game without Big Dex.

Lulz. Tongue in cheek I hope.***

I think he is innocent but the burden of proof Clemson to find how the positive test were created. That is the unfortunate thing with performance enhancing tests. If positive, you are guilt unless you can show evidence otherwise.

And if you think that playing him is a good idea, Remember Georgia Tech in 2009?

They had Demaryius Thomas and another receive improper benefits and were notified before the ACCCG that he was (likely?) ineligible. Tech played him anyway (and was fuzzy if they manipulated facts or were just wrong). They had to vacate all wins after that notification.

Clemson is a team and while Big Dex is a huge part of it (and will likely be cleared) you can't sacrifice the team's goal for one or three players. It stinks, but sometimes the best thing is to wait it out. Champions are deep and it is just an opportunity for everyone to step up for Dex.

Unfortunately he is suspended for the game.....

Jan 4, 2019, 9:25 AM

due to Ostarine being in his system, not because he knowingly took Ostarine. Proving that he unknowingly took it gets him reinstated for the future.

Even if Clemson was able to prove he unknowingly took the substance my understanding is that he would still have to have a clean drug test in order to play. Given how long Ostarine stays in your system that may be difficult. Even if reinstated the ostarine will have to be completely out of their system to be able to play. Read about the Arizona player. He took drug test weekly for roughly 5 months before it was out of his system.

This is not a criminal proceeding. It is a private entity, the NCAA, to which Clemson voluntarily belongs. There is no presumption of innocence or jury trial guarantee. We are at the mercy of the rules we agreed to follow. If it is a contamination situation, it is a darn shame, but there is nothing we can do about it.

Test all the players then and see what shows up for both teams.
