Acc should court WVU, Notre Dame, OhioSt, PennSt

Jul 31, 2021, 9:38 AM

It’s time to make a power grab. All the networks, sponsors, etc want less conferences on contract because they now have to start writing and paying NIL contracts to players as well. If there are only a power 3, there’s more money to provide to athletes in NIL agreements without increasing expenses. It’s business and the ACC needs to compete like a business not an extension of academic institutions.

Would OSU’s competition improve with that move? I’m not sure if they would leave or not, but I wouldn’t mind being in the same conference as them.

As I just posted below, IMO,OHIO St. isn't leaving the BIG 10.Why should they when they are the team to beat year in and year out, much like Alabama in the SEC.

You make some good points ,unfortunately IMO, the only school that you might have any success in persuading them to join the ACC would be WVU. And the ACC should go after them.
Ohio State is not leaving the Big 10.Why should they ? They rule the roost. Basically they are the face of the conference, just like Alabama in the SEC.
So that leaves Notre Dame and Penn State, and again IMO, the Nittany Lions won't make a move without seeing what Notre Dame is going to do in regards to joining the ACC full time in football. So if the Irish don't join I don't see much chance of Penn State joining either.
And none of this has anything to do with academics or NIL.
This is all about Notre Dame calling the shots in regards to conference expansion. And they are not even a "full" member.

Why would OSU and PSU seriously consider the ACC?

Jul 31, 2021, 11:33 AM

What do we have to offer?

The only thing that has any chance of keeping pace with the SEC is forming a new conference with the top halves of the B1G and ACC plus ND and maybe a couple of the best programs from the remnants of the Big XII.

tOSU
PSU
Michigan
Michigan St
Wisconsin
Iowa
Nebraska
Clemson
FSU
Miami
VT
UNC
NC State
ND
OK state
WVU

That's my 16. And the SEC would still be better IMO. Trying to pick the ACC representatives just highlights how bad our conference is at football right now.

Yes, and let’s go get Alabama while we’re at it.***
