told me not to bring dirty laundry home on visits, so I used that on-campus site weekly. As I recall, it was about ten cents for either the washing machines or dryers, and I made extra money washing other students' laundry. lol.

The old laundry had a unique piece of equipment. It was a machine that could pull the buttons of your shirts and shoot them through your underwear. I know this since my shirts were always returned without buttons and my underwear always came back full of small, button sized holes! <img border=">Them were beautiful days in Tiger Town. 3,700 guys and 6 females!

have been Patrick N. Calhoun, who I think was a member of our BOT, when I was a student in the 60's.

Most of the board members I knew had been cadets and were wise as to student antics. Their knowledge of Clemson's history was impressive.

For $0.50, a "dryer" would make clothes wetter than before

Jul 20, 2020, 9:22 AM

I never figured that out. 3-4 cycles to dry clothes.

PN Calhoun is my father! I'm sure there was some chicanery that led to that disciplinary action as Captain Shippey was under dad's command who was Colonel of the Corps of Cadets. Dad was also on the basketball team and leader of many clubs and honor fraternities. He received the Norris Medal for most outstanding student his senior year, the first student-athlete to win the award. Due to his dedication and service to Clemson, he was appointed its first out of state lifetime board member. I was a freshmen when Patrick Noble Calhoun Courts was dedicated in his memory. He was selfless in his devotion to the college he, his father (class of 1896), and I all love so much.

Wow ...... I know you are proud of your dad ..... demerits and all (lol). What year did you enter Clemson? Couldn't have been too much before me as I think we outnumbered the female students about 15 to one ..... pretty good odds .... if you were a girl!

Wow! That is me - I'm the one 2nd from the left of the picture with 4 guys throwing laundry. We used to call the women who worked there, "Laundry Queens." They were the only females we saw during the week. You youngsters would not believe what we who attended male only, military, Clemson in the forties and fifties.
