Are Big Dave’s “business decision” assertions and Dabo’s “All In” philosophy mutually exclusive?

I’m asking honestly. I don’t know how to reconcile the two, but that’s not saying I couldn’t be convinced by a robust argument either way. It seems like his recent statements are dangling Matayo over the tank with the biggest shark, and it begs the question about his opinions about DJ’s future with Clemson as well.

It’s clear that Clemson’s differentiation in the CFB landscape has been severely eroded by these novel “business” influences, as Dabo has basically stated.

Is Big Dave allowing Matayo to be willfully manipulated by somebody’s fat wallet at the expense of his son’s potential merits as a committed teammate? Are we creating more Kyler Murrays and Antonio Browns by disconnecting team sport athletes from the bigger goals of personal development and team loyalty which Dabo so openly espouses?

Not the first time it’s gonna be discussed, nor will it be the last, but it’s on my mind (again) on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the Upstate.

It’s entirely contingent on opportunistic circumstances and not a lasting, foundational, character-based approach that transcends circumstances.
