Question for you, @Skeeta

Apr 21, 2022, 11:12 AM

As a golf fan and a Clemson guy, have you ever checked out Dr. Mo? He was a high school and Clemson classmate of mine, my teammate on the high school golf team and my fraternity brother at Clemson.

He is a sports psychologist who works with some of the Clemson tour guys (works out of St. Simons Island, I think). Seems like a dream job to me, but I am sure it has its drawbacks like all jobs. Cool story how he came to be doing what he is doing, though. May share it with you offline (tmail?), if you are interested.

When he was first getting established I took some group lessons from him. He also wrote a book. As you probably know, he studied under Dr. Bob Rotella at UVA.

Question...do both members of the winning team rec'v

Apr 21, 2022, 2:12 PM

Masters Invitations? What is the distribution of FEDex pts for the win?

Not naming anyone, since I don't want to invoke wrath of druids...but Go Tiger former golfer!

Re: Question...do both members of the winning team rec'v

Apr 21, 2022, 2:51 PM

The winners do not receive a Masters invite. They do get the two year exemption and invites to the Sentry Tournament of Champions, THE PLAYERS Championship, and PGA Championship, as well as the other invitationals. As for the FedExCup points, they treat it like a tie in a normal tournament. For example, the winning team will be like the first and second place finishes in a regular tournament. They'll take the 500 points for the winner and 300 points for second place, and then divide that by 2. So, the winning team earns 400 points.

Dåmn the Druids . . . .

Apr 21, 2022, 3:07 PM [ in reply to Question...do both members of the winning team rec'v ]

As the afternoon session gets underway . . . Here’s how our 3 Morning Tigers fared.

On the closing hole for Doc, I was pulling for Sam to sink his 17’ putt for birdie . . . but Doc said, “I got this” and drained a THIRTY-SIX FOOTER for the team . . . moving them into a Current Tie for 2nd Place @ -11 only one shot off the Leaders!!!

Doc had 5 birdies and an eagle!!!

Lucas’ and Ben’s respective teams had decent days @ -6 and -5 . . . Ben’s Team had to eat a double bogey on the third hole . . . so the comeback was nice!

Two more Tigers to follow as the afternoon progresses . . .

That doggone Taylor drained a 24 footer for par and darn if didn't drain another on 18 for an eagle to propel to -12. I suppose they'll be co leaders by eod.. But Doc should remain top 5.

Lucas and his Chezire cat only birdied one par 5 - ouch. Both Lucas and Ben will have work to do tomorrow. Hopefully Kyle and JB can both reach -8 or better. Fun tournament and change of pace.

Re: Dåmn the Druids . . . .

Apr 21, 2022, 3:41 PM

I also like the change of pace with this tournament. It is fun to see the teamwork and it allows them to take some gambles on the four ball (best ball) days when their partners have landed safely and they can be a little more aggressive, knowing they have a safety net. I also like the Barracuda Championship each year since it also offers a change of pace and a chance to be more aggressive with the modified stableford scoring.

Apr 21, 2022, 9:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Dåmn the Druids . . . . ]

carried their share of the load with their respective teams. Jonathan really held up his end!

Patrick and Xander just seems like a loaded team . . . I’m sure there are others with the same appearance . . . The alternate shot format tomorrow will play havoc on some . . . I look for a big swing in the standings!!!

Btw - Corbin did well to get to even par for the day after 2 bogies and a double on the front . . . He is just one shot off the Cut . . . Since he settled down and righted the ship, I look for him to make the Cut tomorrow!!!

Lauren Stephenson shot a -2 today and currently sits T-11th Place @ the LA Open!!!

Alice Hewson shot -3 today and sits T-5th Place @ the Australian Women’s Classic after opening day!!!

Yes Sir !!!! Locked and loaded.

Skeet, JB did the heavy lifting, but he got bailed out on some pars. Can't believe Kyle had to eat a bogey. And Ben a double. But good news is 2 strokes currently tie you with only 27 teams.

Think I read cantley made 3 putts 15+ - unreal.

Glad to see Alice with a good round. Hoping she can make some noise. Golf's never been so worldwide and its mind boggling when you think of all the good golfers... Men and women vying for such a small number of even top 5's on any given week. And any one capable of having just that one good week. No wonder you need a Mo No or whoever that is for mind therapy.

An early peek at the ACC has us competing well . . . It will change often, but this will whet your appetite . . .

Kyle and Zack lagging behind. Kyle used to be our birdie machine and ever since the desert, he can't do squat. Zack will blow up a hole... Or two to ruin a good score. He didn't play well there a month ago. Longgg way to go.

Yeah, that snapshot took a nosedive. Finished first round t11 out of 12 at the moment. Golfstats kinda messed up. No one in right order.

CGA ...... there are basically 125 good jobs playing golf (for men and I guess about the same for women) and there are a lot of players vying for them. To have as many players as we do in there is great, and hopefully they can keep their jobs!

Skeeta as bad as I hate to say it but I believe Byrd is done. Not sure what has happened to the guy. Him and his partner won’t make the cut this week and last week he finished with a final round 79. Have not seen him play in a while anyone know what’s going on with him. Technique… mental??

Byrd, imho will be kinda like a Jay Haas. Probably will be really good on the Champions Tour. Of course, still 6 years away. He's made cuts, just not finishing. Again, imho, I think the distance is getting some of the older guys.

This week, he just didn't have any help yesterday to score... Then the alternative ball can go sideways in a hurry.

so far this season:

Season: 2022
PGA SEASON OVERVIEW
EVENTS CUTS. TOP 10 WINS RNDS HOLES AVG EARNINGS
Total 10 5. 1 0 31 558 70.6 $386,958

It’s not the big money . . . but better than most of us ever made, playing a game he loves!!!

He’s not quite done yet . . . Winning isn’t everything as long as you’re making a living.

Corbin did indeed make it in. T48. Good weekend, good paycheck.

Alice is in 3rd place at -5. Leader is -7 so a really good shot at winning.

Yep, I feel bad for Jacob. He's gotten zero help from anyone. I had hoped he would start Carter from the go since Zack butchered this course a month ago. Who knows but it was time for Kian to have a bad round... But Kyle, what can you say. Our #2 has been horrible (overall) since the first tournament in the fall.

Go Jacob
Go Tigers
