Is the USC game becoming a drag on Clemson?

Oct 3, 2022, 11:21 PM

Hear me out:

Most rivalry games have an element of unpredictability.

Iron Bowl -- anything can happen.

Texas/OU -- you just never know.

Bedlam -- Often is just that.

But Clemson/USC? So predictable it's not even fun anymore.

I propose a four-year moratorium to give the Gamecoacks time to work out their issues.

Meanwhile, Clemson can spend those four years doing a double home-and-home with the Aggies who of course no longer have a post-thanksgiving season-ender with Texas.

Aggie fans are a good fit for the Clemson culture and they'd appreciate the challenge. They may not perform alot better than the Gamecoots but at least they dont throw batteries and stuff at the players.

No.

It’s good to have that extra scrimmage for championship season.

Oct 4, 2022, 6:32 AM

No, it's as close to a guaranteed win as it gets. Its also an easy SEC victory.

Plus, their fans are mouthy and obnoxious so it's our annual duty to put them in their place.

They're the perfect "rival"; dumb, mouthy, classless, incompetent, and easy to beat.

Take your mind back to 2009-2014 and get back to me. They’ve earned the right to be throttled annually.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, they deserve both hands and feet for a 20 bomb

Oct 4, 2022, 11:08 AM

After how classless, rude, and uncouth they were to us during "the streak."

You must be only 10 years old. Spurrier beat us five years in a row. We owe them another 11 years before we let up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why?

Oct 4, 2022, 12:59 AM

Why not? We are doing what we do, so well. And it is fun. Keep on rolling!!

And we WILL rock you. Seriously.

Sure! You been asleep the last few years? The aTm -Texas series will be an SEC rivalry game very soon. No way the SEC is not including that game in their T-Giving rivalry game inventory.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO NO NO.

Oct 4, 2022, 4:32 AM

They wouldn't know how to behave without their regular whippings. They'd mouthe off incessantly and torture us knowing that there is nothing we can say to defend the fact that we dropped them. In fact they would say we feared the Spur or some other dumb thing.

Look, they've been faithful to supply butt for us to whip every year for a decades now. I wouldn't want to be part of the generation which quit giving them one more chance to get a mudhole stomped out of their butts.

So no, it's a terrible idea and the unforeseen consequences would be unbearable.

In answer to your question, I don't really care whether we play jr. anymore. It is a rivalry though, so we will keep playing it unless and until it can't be scheduled for some reason.

As for the examples you give, no rivalry game is more predictable than OU - OSU. I think OU has won something like 85% of them. Iron Bowl is very lopsided in favor of Bama. So, domination by 1 team doesn't necessarily mean it should not be played.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope. Why give up 4 years of Ws just to allow them to get better?***

Oct 4, 2022, 6:17 AM

just to show the recruits in our state where things stand… AND to show SCar “fans” the same. We do however need to drop one of the other cupcakes from our schedule for balance sake.

Actually the better team wins the rivalry games just like every other game. Your mind remembers the one off game so you think it happens often which in incorrect. The media also reference the one off game to get views which makes it seem like the norm

First of all, we play South Carolina, not USC. USC is in California. Second, the game is one of the most historical in the country and I hope will always be played and become more competitive the way it used to be, as long as we win.

I would love to play Southern Cal. They're ranked #6. Don't see how that would be perceived as a drag.

Screw Calford.

If Clemson ever stopped playing the coots...

Oct 4, 2022, 10:11 AM

every year we'd hear about how they would have beaten us this year if we still played.

You may have been undefeated and we only won 2 games all season, but we would have beaten you in Columbia.

Last season would have been a prime example...we lost 3 games and they thought they had us because we were having a "down year" and they were riding the Shane Train...

Re: Is the USC game becoming a drag on Clemson?

Oct 4, 2022, 10:16 AM

Nope. We are going to keep dragging them until they realize and acknowledge
they're the little brother in this relationship and that won't ever change.
They need to beg for mercy and appeal to their BOT to drop the game due to the inability
to field a competitive team. That won't happen. So , we drag 'em some more

We need to remind them every year who this state belongs to ???

No, in fact, we need to play them twice a year. Opening game to make their season even more miserable, and the last game just to keep them miserable.
