Alabama would be a most worthy consolation prize. I daresay it would have as much or more viewer interest than the playoff games themselves, given the recent rivalry and competitiveness of the games, other than 44-16.
Of course, we have to win out to make that scenario happen. For me personally, the LAST thing I want to see is the pale blue of mountain goats in the Orange Bowl representing the ACC. But, on the OTHER side, Alabama would also need to win out to make that happen. And, this Alabama team is gettable, even for Awbarn. NEVER discount Awbarn's chances in the Iron Bowl. Kick Six, Part Deaux, anyone?

I would rather play Oregon, Texas, or the real USC.
I am really tired of seeing Alabama at the end of most years.

HA Texas isn't getting into a New Years 6 game. Unless you had rather lose the ACC and play Texas in the Cheez-It bowl rather than play in the Orange.

Oregon or Southern Cal would be my choice; if we can win out.
A couple of storied programs( or at least one that has built its reputation on the field and not by fancy uniforms).
Or if Michigan doesn't make the CFP - the Wolverines!
I think we match up well with them; "if we don't pull a Syracuse or Notre Dame out our butts" and turn the ball over and give them a bunch of gifts.
