I like the Bakich hire but…

Jun 15, 2022, 8:07 AM

I’m really interested in how he builds his staff. Monte wasn’t the only issue with this program. Bakich needs to clean house and bring in some good assistants too.

He already is. He’s bringing Schnabel with him who is his right hand man.

He won top assistant coach of the year in 2019. He probably was a top coach to fill the Michigan vacancy but instead he’s coming here.

And there’s rumblings that Pawlewski is coming to be the pitching coach.

Yeah and Frank Martin took Scar to the final 4 one time. You look at Bakich's resume and 2019 is all he has.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Yeah well we haven’t made the tournament in a few years

Maybe we should start with doing that. Bakich will get us there 100%

We haven’t been past a regional in 12 years, I’ll take my chances with someone new

Feel free to look else where for a team to support. There is a sh*t show about 120 miles from Clemson that might be just right for you and your attitude.

I wonder if Monte was offered the same grace ($$$), that Brownell was given? I'm pretty sure Monte could've hired a heckuva staff with all the $ Bakich and his staff will have.

Lord man you are really butt hurt by this hire. While no one knows if it’s a good hire or a bad one yet just get behind it for now. We won’t know how good or bad it was in a few years. No matter who we hired we’d be waiting to see how good he is for Clemson. There’s no such thing as a home run hire.

While I think Monte should have been given the same grace Brownell was given I’m not in charge and I support Neffs decision. IMHO both needed to be fired this year. But I’m not going to bad mouth the new coach until we see how he does in a few years.

No, he needs better players. Pretty simple to understand but really hard to do.

Seems like I read he had just let his pitching coach go at Michigan at end of regular season and was calling the pitches in the postseason? At least he is not afraid to make changes when it's not working.

How long does he get here to turn things around?

I think a minimum of 4 years. Hopefully sooner but he will need to get his own players in place.
