So does Alexander get targeted this week?

Oct 23, 2015, 3:13 PM

Every team has stayed away from him and wonder if the "ACC's best QB" (snicker) will challenge him.

I know he will have his man covered, but will Kayaa throw his way anyway?

I'm sure Alexander is salivating over the possibility!

Our secondary will have the opportunity to have the game

of the year. Let's hope they don't try to be heros and just make plays instead of going for picks and getting burned. Having said that, I hope they pick a few off early and get in the QB's head.

I think the nickle back is going to be the one targeted.

ND(and BC to some extent) showed the best way to attack us; underneath against the LB or Nickle.

Our secondary will have to play better vs Miami or it could be a long day.
We have gave up some long TD passes this season .

Yeah, but I feel like most of those were when we were gettin

g sucked into play action against the run. Miami is a throw first offense so I would like to think we don't leave someone running wide open down the field again. Or at least I hope.

Yeah.

EVERY long pass we've given up over the top has been a bust - almost invariably the RB hiding and then coming out of the backfield on a post or wheel route. Venables is an extremely aggressive DC, and Kearse - the main culprit - is an even more aggressive safety, and we've been "had" a few times, twice by GT, and once by Notre Dame. The flip side is, those were pretty much the only yards those RB's got all day.

Wide receivers have not done well. At all. Alexander utterly erased Will Fuller; expect him to largely erase whoever they deem Miami's biggest threat. Tankersley has been targeted more, but at the end of the day when you're targeting a big, physical 6'1" CB who runs sub-4.5, that's a tough way to make a living too.

Miami will try to make some headway with TE stick routes, crossing routes, and screens and wheel routes to the RB's, but while they may have some joy those with those, at the end of the day, you still have to either run the ball effectively or throw the ball down the field to win, unless they just flat-out stone Clemson's offense. That could be problematic for them...their DL is pretty good, at least in rushing the passer, and their secondary has made a bunch of picks, but they've been susceptible to short underneath stuff and their LB corps is pretty much all new guys. They've been pretty bad at finding run fits and they've been gashed a lot; BC decided they were going to erase Wayne Gallman and force Watson to beat them, if Miami tries that it could be a long day for them.

I would expect Miami to get some yards, and some points. I would also expect them to go 3-and-out a bunch, and have trouble sustaining drives. Contrariwise, I think Gallman is likely to have a huge day. I'd personally run Gallman down their throat until they show they can stop him because I don't think they can.

Kiser to Fuller was gonna be HUGE. Wait. NM***

I think they will try him a time or two. If you feel you are the best Passer in the league your GOING to wanna try it. Hopefully Mac teaches him the error of his way and that he's really #2.
